Positive: This is exactly as advertised, a retreat. Not far from Nelson city and views to really enjoy. This well presented 2bedroom unit at the bottom of the house. It has everything a family needs.. Queen size beds in the rooms and a large comfy sofa in the lounge area. We loved the spacious rooms, comfy furnishings and the extra touches put in to make your stay comfortable. The kitchenette has everything you need and more. Sea views were stunning and outside a family-friendly area and furniture, even a little swing set for your toddler. The host Shelly, is amazing and accommodated us well, especially as we arrived after hours, door unlocked and heaters were on. We will definitely be back.

Negative: Take care when descending down the rocky garden path, it can be tricky when bringing gear down, however the path is beautiful and is lit up at night. Parking maybe awkward if you have a large vehicle, however the drive is wide and cars can move around you.

Positive: We absolutely LOVED staying there. The location was incredible- we could watch the sunset and enjoy the changing waters as the tide went in and out. Shelly has thought of everything and it was so clean and smelt wonderful too. I would 100% recommend this place and would definitely stay again if we are in the area again.

Negative: Nothing- it was great!

Positive: Peaceful location with views of the sea (when the tide is in)

Negative: Only one car parking space. 27 steps altogether to navigate down to property. Hard with luggage and for less able bodied people, no access for disabled. It took quite a few trips to bring our bags in. The kitchen was in the mudroom and too small to prep food, no oven/hob just a kettle, toaster, microwave, sink and washing machine. The fridge was turned up too high and froze our food, when I turned it down a little, the abundance of ice in the small freezer section defrosted continuously and I had to clean up water both days. No dining room table or chairs, we had to eat sitting on the couch. Bathroom had no hairdryer or bin. No tissues in any rooms. Beds were uncomfortable and rolled into the middle. There were pink bats stored in the wardrobe? Wind chimes were too noisy & kept us awake. No stickers on sliding glass doors, I walked into them Noise & music from upstairs. Alarm clocks tick constantly, we had to remove them from bedrooms. No charging ports for USB’s which is just convenient but most places have them. No freeview tv. We could only watch YouTube 😮‍💨

Summary: Maybe good for fit couples that want to eat out.

Positive: We loved everything , the shower was lovely and hot beds were soft, just the way i like them, and the good choice of tea bags . and the fantastic view of the sea and the lights of nelson and the walk down the house through the garden. it was very peaceful. Thank you for a lovely night say.

Positive: Plenty of room for three people. Private large outdoor space. Would be nice for a child to play. Well appointed kitchen and huge bathroom Quite for a good night sleep. Late leaving time. Changing views of the tidal sea.

Negative: Stayed at Matariki time. Could have had another small heater but we managed. Plenty of blankets and cushions.

Negative: Whilst described as being on the ground floor, the access should be noted as possibly unsuitable for persons with limited mobility. My mother is 84 with a dodgy knee and struggled with the steps leading to the property. Otherwise it was great.
