Positive: Very good stay. We were accommodated in the new annex. We spent one night here and would definitely stay here again. Very nice hosts, very good accommodation with private bathroom and toilet. And great food. Thank you very much.

Positive: 1. Loved the warmth & hospitality of the guesthouse owner's dad & the housekeeper. We had booked 2 rooms so were lucky to get the lake facing room which was heavenly, we could even see a sky full of stars from our room at night. 2. Very clean and comfortable & I was happy to get airtel coverage at the guesthouse. That's the only network currently working. 3. The simple yet delicious home cooked meal was just what we needed at an elevation of 13,861 feet, with AMS just around the corner.

Negative: 1. While booking.com says Astrostays as the name of the guesthouse, signboards in the village say Bukpa Homestay, so do keep that in mind when traveling or you may get lost. It's right at the start of the Mann Village. 2. While the description does mention bathrooms are outside the room, would appreciated a lock and key to be handed to guests so as to avoid any other person using the same washroom. We had 2 bathrooms but unfortunately ended up using just one as we found a tribal folk using one of the washrooms the following morning. 3. While the place is called Astrostays and description said the owner had a telescope for some star gazing, we didn't end up meeting the person who owned the telescope as he was working elsewhere and "might" have come back at 11pm that night, a slight disappointment as we were looking forward to a good night of star gazing.

Positive: Amazing location and the host is very kind nd helpful. He also prepared some really amazing Ladaki food for us during the stay. Loved it! No WiFi and spotty network, a good way to completely disconnect.

Negative: Heating left a bit to be desired. Needed more firewood easily available.

Positive: Nice views sunny room… lovely host. Great food. Sadly miss managed by Mountain Homestays .

Negative: No basin to wash hands or brush teeth. We weren’t allowed downstairs to main living area as photos and the idea of a homestay indicate also showed bathroom that seemed no existent. The company 'Mountain Homestays' that seem to manage various homestays in the region, we felt MHS were inflexiable and somewhat tricky to deal with. The condition referred to of my wife, was altitude sickness- that was brought to the attention of MHS before we left Leh, 2hrs after paying the 30k in cash to MHS. My Email- ' I just needed to flag my wife has been sick and throwing up this afternoon and and has been bedridden all afternoon, Dorge noticed she wasn’t well, while in office. We may need to delay our departure by a day to help her get better. Would this be ok ? MHS- Response-As discussed over the phone, we would recommend you visit the SNM Hospital to get the correct treatment for Janeane. We can look at moving the dates if required, but the same has to be informed by 2:30PM today. Additionally, as a part of the process we will only be issuing a refund once we receive a document from a hospital or health clinic regarding a health issue preventing you from travelling. We were given 40mins to provide a doctors certificate. Which was most unresonable considering the condition of my wife. A day later we were forced to stay at a lower altitude In Sakti and were able to gain a doctors certificate but more importantly some care and rest for my wife. We would strongly recommend booking directly with the Homestays if at all possible.

Summary: Wasn’t a Homestay as indicated. Was a room stay, eating meals etc in room without table etc.
