Positive: Worked perfectly for our ski trip to Lotte Arai Ski resort. It's only a 5 min drive to the resort which made getting to the slopes a breeze. The house and rooms get toasty and warm with the heaters turned on and the bathroom and showers were nice and new. The futons/mattresses were very comfortable and the comforters were very warm. The garage is nice as well to have a snow free place to park. If visiting in the winter and you don't have a 4WD or snowtires make sure you bring some chains.

Negative: There could have been more in the way of cooking pans and utensils but we made do with the provided cookware.

Positive: The house was spacious and comfortably furnished. The beds were very comfortable with high quality linen. The villa is close to Lotte Arai resort (about 5 minute drive) and the managers of the villa were extremely helpful in arranging transport for our group with a neighbour, who was charming and helpful. The manager also arranged dinner for us at a local restaurant which usually only offers lunch and this was a very special experience for us. The drying room was excellent for our ski gear. From the house are views of the surrounding rice fields and up to the mountains.

Negative: Nothing really, floorboards creaked a bit upstairs,

Positive: The house was beautiful inside, well appointed and perfect for our family of six. Just a few mins drive up to Arai Resort and 20 mins to Joetsu.
