Positive: Seriously, I would stay here for more than a week if there were more resorts than just Appi Kogen in the vicinity that I could bounce between. I loved this place. From the kind hosts, to the common area, to the spacious washitsu, this place feels very much like home. Its quiet (good sound dampening in the room), clean, and has a vintage feel without feeling run down. Common kitchen area is fully stocked, beautiful wood furniture, and a huge fireplace. The buffet breakfast was great (its in a separate building about a 5 min walk away). Theres an Indian place and a Yakiniku joint easily walkable too.

Negative: Nothing.

Positive: We return to Arts Colour every year and it feels like home away from home. There is a great atmosphere and attentive, welcoming staff. The facilities are perfect for quick cooking or talking about your day with other guests around the fire. However, the place comes alive when the other Satosan is around. He is a true entertainer and a wonderful host.

Negative: It gets a little pricey during peak times

Positive: I enjoyed both the dinner and breakfast.

Negative: I think it should be made clear that the pension is an annex. It was a surprise that meals would not be in the same building. For me, not a problem, I like walking, but car service for breakfast is rather strange.

Positive: Arts Color was located five minutes drive from the Ski slopes! Tom could not have been more helpful when picking us up and was enormous entertainment to our grandchildren dressing up as a different character every time he picked us up!

Negative: The language barrier was a little bit of an issue as we would’ve liked rooms adjoining as there was six in our party. Nevertheless, I tried their best to help.
