Positive: Incredible hostel. Huge dorm room with an incredible view to wake up to every morning. Place is super clean. Clean bathrooms and showers (with Hot Water). The host is one of the nicest people you will meet. So helpful and always happy. Sok San Village is also very chill and so relaxing if you want an escape from busier parts of the island. You can also rent fishing, SUP and snorkelling equipment and book tours with the host. Note: Really need a scooter to properly enjoy the Island which you can rent from the hostel.

Negative: There are complimentary towels provided which is great but they dont dry very well so you may need to use your own towel.

Summary: My favourite Hostel in Cambodia! Loved it!

Positive: - The view from the hostel dorm is insane! I woke up every morning to the sound of the waves and would sit on the deck and read my kindle (heaven) - Comfy large beds with curtains/plug sockets/lights/fans - The hostel owner Christophe is very lovely and makes you feel very welcome! The lady who does the cleaning/check-in/shop keeping is also very friendly :) - Nice big lockers under the beds to fit your bags and locks are provided! - The place is kept very clean at all times - You can rent great scooters from here at $10 a day including fuel (although this is not 24 hours like some other places, it is just for the day) - Christophe taught me how to drive a scooter and I did so successfully after 5 months of travelling without one!

Negative: - Occasional power cuts but this is across the whole island - Location is nice and peaceful but there isn’t lots to do around the area so I would recommend getting a scooter to see the island - There isn’t any service in the area either so you can use the WiFi at the hostel but as soon as you leave you have nothing

Positive: I stayed at Akounamatata for 4 nights during a few months travelling Southeast Asia. I wanted to relax so I chose this location which seemed to be quieter than the south of the island. I was the best decision ! I loved this hostel :) The location was close to one of the most beautiful beach of the island. There is only one dorm which made it very easy to meet other solo travellers. I have made some very good friends and Christophe, the host, is always up for a chat and gives excellent recommendations. I would 10000% recommend this place if you are looking for some peace and quiet and make some friends !

Negative: Only the shower could have been a bit cleaner (a lot of hair)

Positive: There’s a single dorm with a plenty of space that creates a unique opportunity to meet other travelers. Location was perfect, a bit a way of the island center but my goal was to be in a quite and pristine beach, and that’s what you get.

Negative: Facilities are ok. There wasn’t a comfy place to chill besides our room (terrace pretty small but they are building a bigger one), but the idea is to be outside to I believe is ok.

Positive: The atmosphere there is very friendly, uncomplicated and open. The owner, Christophe, is so kind and always helpful with any questions. The bed is large and comfortable, everything is clean, and the view is just amazing. Plus, it’s a quite & peaceful location. A place of well-being! If I ever come back, I will definitely stay at Ankounamatata again. 💫 Thank youuuuu

Positive: The location is great, super close to beach and restaurants etc but in a quiet spot. The room is literally on the water and you can listen to the waves in your bed, heaven! The owner is such a friendly and helpful guy. A great hostel / value for money!
