Positive: ABH is settled on the beach, making it a great location for us as a family with little kids, enjoying daily swims, snorkeling at the reef only a few minutes away and surfing small (and a few days bit bigger) waves! We were looked after greatly by the staff, ensuring clean and tidy rooms, enjoyed tasty food from the restaurant and were got multiple transport options arranged (either driver/car for day trips or motor rental for your shorter/leisurely drives). The hosts have plenty of knowledge about the area, seem happy to share this and can advise on and arrange lovely trips in the greater area.

Positive: Lovely clean rooms right on the beach. Very quiet and relaxing. The staff are super helpful and will organise anything for you. The food in the place is good and there's a couple of different places along the beach to go. We surfed every day on nice clean waves with no one else around, they have stuff to hire.

Negative: Would be good to have mosquito nets over the beds in the rooms.

Positive: Everything was perfect, nice place to come and unwind. If you come from the mountains or the city it is nice to relax here at the beach. Healthy food, very helpful staff and owners. There are only a couple of small shops in the Amban area but the owners were super kind to give me a ride to the city of Manokwari where there is a mall and even a cinema. Also many places to eat in town. I had a really good time here, the owners go the extra mile to make you feel at home.

Negative: On some evenings the neighbour Cafe Shy has wedding or birthday parties and the music is very loud with heavy bass. Sandflies can be annoying so bring plenty of repellent. Also alcohol is illegal but still many people drink illegally. Safety at night can be an issue in certain areas. Also consider malaria and other tropical deseases, I brought my own mosquito net, they are not provided in the rooms, but I am shure you could buy one in town.
