This treasure is unmatched for a traditional retreat to the beach. A mile south of downtown Cannon Beach and less than a city block’s walk to the sand, you can enjoy easy access to whatever your heart desires.
The Horner Beach House was built in 1928 to take advantage of the best view of Haystack Rock and the Needles. One of the original homes on the hill, the view includes an expansive panorama of the ocean as well as easy access to the beach. The house has just undergone an extensive remodel, preserving the beach cottage ambiance while ensuring that modern amenities make your experience comfortable.
There are several nesting pairs of bald eagles living in the hills behind the beach house. They fly directly overhead on their way to hunt on Haystack Rock. A fantastic spectacle! Haystack Rock is the best place on the coast to see Tufted Puffins from April to August. The Rock also hosts breeding Western Gull, Pelagic Cormorant, Pigeon Guillemot and Black Oystercatcher, Halequin Duck, Brown Pelican, and Peregrine Falcon seen in summer and Greater Scaup and Surf Scoter in Winter.

Summary: Having Haystack Rock right outside our living room window and front porch was simply amazing! We’ve never stayed in a cooler place! Everything in the house was just as good as the view, clean and comfortable. We would encourage visitors to go to the beach not just during the day or at sunset, but also at night. If it’s not cloudy, you can see a million stars! We hope to visit here again one day!

Summary: Perfect getaway! Lovely remodeled house with all the amenities. Perfect view of Haystack Rock right out in front. You’re up on the hill so it’s 56 (I counted) steps down to the sand….a great workout coming back up. We were blessed with great weather so we had a fire on the beach one night. We ate at the Driftwood twice. Great food.

Summary: Just a quick walk down to the beach! House had everything we needed and more, beach chairs, binoculars, even long sticks to roast hot dogs over our beachside campfire. Lovely!

Summary: This home is as beautiful and lovely as described! Situated atop a hill overlooking Haystack Rock with a direct easy path to the beach makes this the perfect location for a trip to Cannon Beach! We loved that it was close to town but just far enough removed to be quiet and less congested than the busy summer crowds in CB. It is evident that this home is loved. You can feel warm fuzzies of memories shared over the years. My niece and I had so much fun here, it was hard to leave! The beds were comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with anything you could possibly want or need to prepare meals. We also appreciated the games and puzzles, as well as the beach toys/buckets. Thank you for a lovely stay, can’t wait to visit again!

Summary: Home was cozy and very clean. Great location and very quiet aside from some construction noise. The only downside was that the BBQ was moldy and did not burn well so we were not able to cook our meat and hot dogs that we brought with us. Other than that , a great place to stay!
