Positive: We loved our room! We had a beautiful view of the Matterhorn, plenty of room and everything was very modern, new and nice. It was a little more on the edge of town than we expected but not too far from the train station and they had convenient little shuttles to take us back and forth to the train which was nice. Hot tubs could have been warmer although whenever we travel outside of the United States this always seems to be the case.

Negative: We had a reservation at their nicer restaurant Peakfine and were looking forward to a nice dinner with our daughter and her husband. When we arrived we noticed that their other restaurant was booming but not this one, perhaps because it was still early. As they walked us to our table they took us to the very back of the restaurant next to the door that connected to the Hornox. There were only 2 other tables with patrons. We waited for several minutes for our server and he finally brought us some water. Then a few minutes later he brought us some bread. We didn't have any bread plates and asked him for some and he told us they were out. We said not a problem we can just grab some from the table next to us since no one was here yet to which he promptly replied NO, they have a reservation. At that point we said what about our reservation?? He got defensive and said he'd go check with the kitchen at which point we decided we didn't like how we were being treated and were not going to spend our money here so we left! Very risky on Dec 27 when the town of Zermatt is full as are all of the restaurants but we found an Italian restaurant that was crowded, friendly, and more than happy to take us in so we had a wonderful meal and saved several hundred dollars!

Summary: Beautiful hotel with very nice rooms. If you eat there I would avoid the Peakfine.

Positive: The hotel has definite Alpen charm. It's spotless, modern, excellent breakfast and facilities. We had a large balcony with a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. The location is fairly convenient with the shops of town only being a five to ten minute walk away. There is a free town bus that stops very close to the hotel and there is a grocery across the street. Our room was extremely comfortable.

Negative: Upon arrival, after calling for the shuttle, we waited in the cold for almost a half hour for the shuttle. We had to call a second time before it came. We didn't know we could have walked that distance back and forth twice in the time we waited. The price is high, but so was every other place in Zermatt. We were put in the side building. It's just a few steps from the main building where breakfast is served. Construction was happening on our floor. Thankfully we couldn't hear any of it from inside our room. Workers always let us enter and use the lifts before they did so it was only a minor inconvenience. Problems can occur anywhere. What makes the difference is how they are dealt with. I'd stay here again.

Positive: The Hotel was lovely, and the Spa was excellent. We had a fabulous view of the Matterhorn from our room, which is a great way to wake up. We we're skiing, but tool both the train and the cable car to the top of the mountains, which was fabulous.

Negative: Switzerland is expensive, and Zermatt is expensive for Switzerland! You'll ned more than you think for food and drink.

Positive: We booked the panoramic room, and the view was absolutely beautiful. We spent most of our time on the balcony, simply enjoying the scenery from our own private space.

Positive: The entire property was amazing and just what we were looking for with a couple days in Zermatt. The staff was friendly and professional, the property was beautiful and the spa/pool area was amazing. The breakfast in the morning was a nice touch.

Negative: The only thing I could say was there was no availability for an early check in. We arrived at 10 am and had to wait until 3 pm. I didn’t mind it as I could go skiing until then but it would have been nice to be fit in earlier since my friend I was with doesn’t ski.

Summary: Clean, authentic, and peaceful.
