Positive: The villa itself is comfortable, very well equipped kitchen, wonderful terrace and views of the olive trees and the ocean afar. The owners are so very hospitable and kind - a lovely platter of goodies was awaiting when we arrived, nice! We did appreciate that one of the owners showed up the next day and spent 1 hour trying to sort the AC and TV issues out.

Negative: Confusion as of who to contact!!! Booking gave us a phone number and when we reached out to this guy he was really rude, inattentive to our needs, plus told us he did not know how we had gotten his number (da!), he was one of the investors, so he said! One of the owners, Ioanna, was supposed to greet us. Ended it up it was her lovely mother Eva that came, a bit confusing to say the least. Of course, in situations like that everyone passes the bucket. We still don’t know how everything is managed and who is really in charge at Akalli Villa. We decided to deal only with Ioanna, one of the owners. She was really responsive. Many little things were not to our satisfaction but most importantly the location! It’s not a public parking but a street parking if you can call that a street! Google Maps suggest one road and owners another. The “good road” is actually pretty bad and part of it is a dirt road. Parking is uphill about 200 meters from the Villa - not what you expect with this kind of property. Issues with the hot tub that was not hot, pool guys that came twice to repair the pool, emptying part of it and refilling it with cold water. Having to contact owners to ask for cleaning products, extra toilet paper, turning hot water up again (because hot water was hot day 1 to 4 and then became warm day 5 and 6) having to ask for the bed to be changed after 1 week (we were there 2 weeks). Very amateur management, I will contact Ioanna and suggest she should manage property herself instead of having the whatever hotel group do it in her place. PLUS, this very unprofessional group is probably keeping a big chunk of the due while Ioanna and her family are actually doing the job! On a final note: providing toilet paper, cleaning products so guests can keep house clean, dishwasher pods, laundry detergent IS BASIC, and should have plenty in house! If we can afford to pay for the Villa then we don’t need to come to Greece to stock up on toilet paper and detergent!

Positive: Loved everything about the villa. It was literally perfect. The pictures, even though they make the villa look amazing still so not do it justice. Would absolutely return!

Negative: Nothing but... it would be useful to make the directions better to get there. Our taxi had to reverse down the really narrow lane which turned out wasn't suitable for cars. More information on local amenities would be useful for future guests.

Positive: The place is beautifully renovated old house within original Cretan village. Apartments are tastefully decorated and kept very clean and well maintained. Location was great for our plan of exploring the island. The view from the apartment is amazing because it is away from coastline and mass tourism so you are in nature with a sea view. And the best thing about location is the village itself. As soon as you get out from the yard, you are in welcoming community which makes you feel like you are living there. Next door is a great traditional dinner restaurant which is also a gathering point for locals so it is a great place to enjoy greek hospitality. The owners are great, very responsive and polite. They really try to make you feel perfect. Amazing place for relaxing vacation!

Negative: It is a small detail but anyway: The whole place has luxurious feeling about it - the architecture is beautiful, interior design amazing and maintenance very good. What I missed in that "package" is quality toiletries (shower gel, shampoo..). Instead of that, there is a liquid soap in clumsy plastic dispenser that doesn't belong in the whole story.
