Summary: This was the last stay in our 10 week English Countryside adventure, having stayed in cottages in the Bath area in SW England and in Shropshire, south of Shrewsbury in the Midlands/Wales area. I was "stationed" the Mayfair area of London in the 70's with the US Navy, and made numerous trips throughout Great Britain back then. Spending an extended time in Britain was a bucket list trip, made possible by having just retired in December, 2025. It couldn't have ended on a better note. Caroline Cottage was the perfect location to visit Yorkshire, the Lake District, Northern England and Scotland, and served us well for our three week stay. Romaldkirk was the best village we stayed in, with a small, local pub adjacent to the cottage, and a very nice inn and restaurant just around the corner. Barnard Castle, just minutes away had all the provisions one needs for a long stay, and the town was really great. The cottage had all the comfort and amenities, and Gillian and Paul were quick to offer whatever additional items we might need, they were the perfect hosts. Thank you, Gillian and Paul for making this the most memorable stay.

Summary: The property was perfect. It had everything we wanted. And what a perfect location from which to visit Northumbria, North Yorkshire, Durham Coast, and the Dales. We visited them All. Teesdale is beautiful, and Caroline Cottage was perfect.

Summary: The property was beautifully located on the village green in a very quiet location but within easy reach of some great spots. Everything in the cottage was well maintained and the kitchen was well equipped. We would not hesitate to recommend Caroline Cottage and will visit again to see all of the sights we missed this time.

Summary: Our second visit within 6 months and won't be our last this year. The cottage is lovely, spotlessly clean and very cosy. The welcome pack for us and our dogs was most welcome. Coal and logs were ready for our use so we had a lovely fire on our first evening. The location is great for lovely long walks with the dogs, scenery very picturesque too. Hotel serves gorgeous food all homemade....be wise to pre book as it is very popular. As I said we will be back as it is a very special place.
