The space
On the main floor there is a gathering space which includes an open-concept kitchen, living room with fireplace, dining areas, and a game table. The large wrap-around porch is a beautiful place to sit in the mornings and soak up the sun, enjoy the view, or share an evening meal. This is a great location for birding and watching wildlife that live on the property.
*NEW ADDITION: We have added a game room in the garage that contains a foosball table, shuffleboard, dartboard, game table, and ping pong table!
**The house has Wi-Fi and the TVs throughout the home are streaming ready (no cable).
There is an attached manager-occupied apartment above the garage across the breezeway so we can answer questions or address any issues that might come up.
Bedrooms
Master Bedroom: 1 king bed and 1 queen sleeper sofa.
1st Upstairs Bedroom: 1 queen bed.
2nd Upstairs Bedroom: Full size bunk beds.
Library Adjacent to Gathering Area: 1 queen sleeper sofa.
Bathrooms
Master Bathroom: Full bath with double sink and walk-in closet.
Upstairs Bathroom: Full jack and jill bathroom with shared toilet and tub/shower and separate vanities for each of the two upstairs bedrooms.
Downstairs Bathroom: Half bath located in the hallway downstairs off the entrance.
Cabin Addition
Located on the property is a historic, restored sod house with a live green roof. The house has a small kitchen and full bath. One full-size bed and one queen bed are located at one end of the open space where you can fall asleep to the sound of the river. The sod house sleeps four and is available to reserve (for an added fee) in addition to the main house May through September, weather permitting. This addition is $100/night plus an additional cleaning fee of $75. There is no A/C in the sod house, but it stays pretty cool, so it isn't really needed!
***The cabin is a rustic experience for those who don’t mind the possibility of sharing the space with the occasional insect that finds its way inside.
This house was previously listed as "Woodgate Mountain Retreat: 40 Acres of Peace!" and was hosted by a STR management company. We have made the switch to being owner managed.
Guest access
You will have access to the entire home, the gorgeous porch, and the backyard. There is also river access and state water with fishing access upstream of the property between the bridge and the yard!
PLEASE NOTE: We have a local rancher who keeps his cattle on some of the surrounding acreage. We kindly request that you stay out of these areas for safety reasons. They are for your viewing pleasure only.
*PLEASE NOTE: Fishing on the river is acceptable with an appropriate fishing license, but it is catch and release ONLY. The river access from the property is undeveloped so please fish according to your abilities and at your own risk.
***PLEASE NOTE: The sod house on the property is available to rent from May 1st through September 30th. The house sleeps an additional 4 people. The total number of guests the house sleeps without the use of the sod house is 10.
****PLEASE NOTE: The beautiful and unique driveway is hand-placed cobblestone and is bumpy. It is easily manageable for vehicles; however, motorcycles should be aware and use caution.

Summary: Six of us from work had a meeting in Montrose. Great place for a group. Plenty of rooms and privacy paired with a large living room space that allowed us to complete some of the work we needed to do together. Gorgeous setting, quite, and comfortable.

Summary: We needed a place to stay close to Ophir and Imogene Pass in Colorado. This house was wonderful. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was stocked. There was plenty of room for 8 adults and 1 child. The views from the back porch were wonderful. We would definitely stay again!

Summary: We rented property to host family for our sons wedding in Montrose. This property is a dream! Waking up, sitting on the porch with morning coffee and being visited by deer, geese(babies too!)and a fox was one of the many highlights! We even had a visit from a neighboring cow! Seems so far removed from the shopping center of Montrose but everything you need is 10 minutes away. Highly recommend!

Summary: We met our 3 kids and their families here for Spring Break. There were 19 people total and this cabin exceeded all of our expectations. We decided to stay here because of the central location to Black Canyon, Ouray, skiing at Powderhorn and Million Dollar Highway. We not only loved the hikes and excursions we did in the area but the home itself is located in a spot with the beautiful San Juan mountains surrounding us. The river running through the property, the wrap around deck, and the views from all the windows was exactly what we wanted for a vacation in Colorado. Our family enjoyed cooking and baking in the kitchen together. We even had a family bake-off that will always be a memory of ours. The kitchen was surprisingly the most well stocked of any rental we have used. The bedrooms were setup phenomenally for multi-families to relax and enjoy their vacations together. The apartment above the garage was such a great surprise and provided some privacy for us when we needed some reprieve. This is a cabin we will be recommending to everyone we know who wants to explore Colorado! Thank you for the best CO vacation we could ever dream of!!!
