Positive: The amenities in the room were awesome and unexpected! The room was large, very nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable. If we visit Montrose again, we will absolutely stay here again.

Positive: We loved that it used to be an old schoolhouse and the decor was beautiful. Very clean and well-kept. I loved that Frank called me earlier that day to tell me there was an issue with one of the amenities. I really appreciated that he gave me a heads up instead of waiting for me to drive 8+ hours to the property to find out when it would have been too late to make other arrangements. Very courteous!

Positive: Exceeded all our expectations from the time of booking to checking out. Frank sent us timely and accurate information about the check-in process on the day of arrival and everything went seamless. The common area and the farmers porch were great places to hang out and chat with other travelers and share stories and experiences late into the night. The common area was superbly furnished with comfy sofas, tables and others inviting everyone to step out of their rooms and mingle. The room was beautiful and huge with I am assuming more than 20 ft ceilings with 10 ft windows which lit the room with sunshine all through the day. The furnishings were top notch, and high quality. I was initially worries about noise from the common area but the sound proofing was excellent and once in the room we couldn't hear anything from the outside. The room was very clean and immaculate and setup with all amenities.

Negative: Not a complaint or a concern but just a suggestion - It would be great to have a coffee machine in the common area and a water fountain.

Positive: Frank, the property manager was very responsive to both texts and calls. When we asked for more bottles of water, he was gladly to leave us extra. Also bed, pillows are very comfortable and room is very clean.

Negative: We are frequent travelers doing many long road trips across different states and have stayed at many Airbnbs, hotels, suites but never stayed at a place like the Old School Lodge. This place is perfect for a large group, family gathering, wedding event or senior golfer annual gathering as each party will have their own room with private bathrooms and a large common area for meals but for a couple and especially the only ones at the entire lodge, it feels unsafe and a bit scary as there’s no staff on the property. It’s very odd that for a hotel lodge, there’s no staff onsite the entire time when we’re here. We only communicate with the property manager by text and phone. The room was clean, beds and pillows are comfortable but the room was a bit too warm as the ancient floor heater was on the whole time even though we turned the thermostat off. The portable air conditioner was very noisy that we had to turn it off and used the ceiling fan instead . Luckily it was spring time so the ceiling fan works fine but in the summer, it might be an issue if the owner doesn’t fix the issue. We had trouble getting into the house but the manager walked us through over the phone. I read other reviews, it seems like quite a bit of guests having the same struggles entering the house so we were not the only one as the property manager made us feel. Clear instructions on how to enter the front door code would be helpful for future guests to avoid the same problem as we were having. Location is a bit far from amenities and town. Although it’s 6 miles away from town, it only took 10 minutes to get into town. TV remote works poorly. The shower is tricky to operate but works fine.
