About the home

“A Lazy Marlin” is a modern, single-storey, family friendly coastal home in the idilic seaside town of Smiths Beach. Family and friends can come together to relax - all just minutes walk from two surf beaches - Smiths Beach and YCW. It is also a few minutes walk from the Smiths Beach General store and Island Surf where you can hire surf equipment and arrange surfing lessons. It is minutes' drive to the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit and a short drive to bustling Cowes where there are many supermarkets, restaurants and cafes. Some of the many features of this lovely home are detailed below:

Indoor Areas

Entry is via a door on the side of the home into a light-filled central hallway that provides access to Bedroom 4 (with BIR), a Bathroom (with stunning hand crafted natural wood slab vanity & step-free shower), a separate Toilet and, down 2 steps, to a Living Room (with 65" smart TV) that looks on to the central courtyard. Also off this hall are Bedrooms 1 (with BIR, desk & chair), Bedrooms 2 and 3 (each with BIR) and another huge Bathroom (with hand crafted timber slab vanity, bench & towel hooks, bath, step-free shower & toilet). Down a few steps is the fully equipped Laundry (with washing machine & clothes dryer) and a Storage room for guests. At the rear of the home is the large, bright open-plan Kitchen/Dining area (with walk-in pantry and 55" smart TV), that features high ceilings and the provides access to the rear Deck.

Please Note: The step-free entry, wide front door, polished concrete floors and faciities in the main Bathroom could lend themselves to accommodating someone in a wheel chair, however access to the Living Room & Kitchen/Dining Room does require navigating a couple of internal steps.

Outdoor Areas

The H-shaped home has large sun-filled ‘wings’ wrapping around and opening onto an outdoor meals and lounging area. There are two huge handcrafted tables (one indoors and one outdoors) designed for sharing group meals and creating memories.

The paved central Pergola (with 4-burner gas BBQ & wok, hot/cold wash basin, 12-14 seat outdoor table and festoon lights) overlooks the delightful enclosed rear yard, perfect for children. The rear Deck (with bench seat and sun lounges) also features the 6-seater electric heated spa and an adjoining outdoor hot/cold shower with bench seat & towel hooks, providing the perfect area to wash off, plus an adjacent covered surf board storage area. There is ample off-street parking for 4 cars, or 3 cars and a boat with nil height restrictions.

Kitchen

The fully appointed kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, microwave, Nespresso Breville Creatista pod coffee machine, toaster, kettle, etc. plus a double sink, fridge, dishwasher, 900mm electric oven and 900mm induction cook top.

Heating/Cooling Systems

There are four wall mounted reverse cycle air conditioners in the home; one each in the Living Room, Kitchen/Dining room, Bedroom 1 and Bedroom 4, a wall mounted Nobo heater in the Dining Room, ceiling fans in the Living Room, Bedrooms 1, 2 and 3, plus portable heaters in Bedrooms 2 and 3.

Bedding Configuration

This home has 8 beds, and 4 sofa beds, accommodating up to 16 guests:

Bedroom 1: One Queen bed and one Single sofa bed
Bedroom 2: One Queen bed
Bedroom 3: One Queen bed and two Long Single sofa beds
Bedroom 4: Two sets of Single bunks, one Single Trundle bed and one Double sofa bed

Linen

It is common in the region for some linen to be provided for bookings, and some linen to be available as an optional extra. By default, a booking at this home does not include optional linen (top & bottom sheets, bath towels and pillowcases). What is included are doonas (quilts) with covers, pillows without covers, tea towels, hand towels and bathmats. If you would like the optional linen included in your booking, please let us know, including which beds you would like it provided for. The additional cost would be a one-off charge of $30 per bed (some sites add a service fee to these costs) - and we prefer 7 days' notice prior to your arrival to get that arranged.

Peak Periods

Please note that during the peak summer period and other peak times, check in times are set as 3pm unless by prior arrangement. Please also note that if you avail of the optional linen hire over these times, it may involve linen being left out but beds not being made up.
