Positive: Location was excellent - door front parking - kitchen servicable - lounge comfortable - bathroom great - bedroom spacious.

Negative: Mattress was too soft for us - TV operation was a minor irritation.

Positive: Great little cottage in a cute English town. We used it as a base to explore Berwick on Tweed, Holy Island, St Abbs walk (brilliant) and to catch up with friends in Scotland. Was only an hour away from towns just south of Edinburgh (didn’t go there as the fringe festival was on and very busy - had been before) Mattress was super comfy, bathroom lovely with great hot shower, bedroom large, kitchen well equipped and lounge again was spacious.

Negative: Please check the bed as every single movement makes the bed squeak. Think the mattress is in a casing- definitely needs looking at. It said there was no tea toilets which we thought was strange and since we’re travelling we didn’t carry any. But there was one. The kitchen cupboards don’t have handles on them (two of the drawers were push and opens) I had to use my foot to open the cupboards. How about a handle on them? Please leave the instructions on how to use the washing machine/dryer. We had to try and stop it mid drying cycle and wasn’t even sure how to dry clothes as we don’t have one of these at home. Parking - it said no parking but directly out the front there was free and ample parking on the road. We found the place warm enough especially upstairs. It wasn’t overly warm outside but found it OK for us. I know it’s summer but this is equivalent to our winter and so we could’ve needed heating if it wasn’t insulated enough.

Positive: Property is well situated for Northumbria Coast and Holy Island. The village is quiet and beautiful with good amenities and walks. The bed is really comfortable and the cottage makes good use of the space available.

Negative: Visiting in January you would expect some residual heating to be on. Instead the electric heaters were turned off and, when we turned them on, the thermostat showed 2 degrees downstairs, 3 degrees upstairs and the bathroom was even colder with only a towel rail to heat the space! The first 24hrs were uncomfortable to say the least in the property (we nearly left) and we ended up burning bags of logs at a time to just warm the space up! Additional expense that should not be necessary. The PAT testing is very out of date for the property (July 23 when we visited January 24) so I’m guessing the other checks have not been done in a timely manner either. This needs urgent attention.

Summary: A lovely location, clean property but not one for a Winter visit.

Positive: Excellent location, well equipped cottage with good facilities and comfortable bed. The kitchen was very well equipped.

Negative: No working cork screw and the details for rubbish disposal were confusing (different instructions in the property to online).
