Offa’s Dyke National Trail runs close by to the town, providing a good excuse to get on your boots and head off for a walk, there are vineyards and homemade ice cream suppliers nearby. Guests are also very close to the NT property Powys Castle, with 3 others within 45 minutes, Chirk Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park. The Welshpool to Llanfair steam railway, Montgomery Canal, and Lake Vyrnwy are all local and well worth a visit. Quad biking, paintballing and horse riding are all available locally, and watersports can be found at Bala Lake and in Llangollen, a 40-minute drive. Historic Shrewsbury is 30-minute drive, and the west Wales coastline is approximately a 1 hour drive. Shops, pubs and restaurants 1¼ miles.

Summary: Celyn is a beautiful property. My eight grandchildren and their parents for that matter used the pool and hot tub throughout the day and evening, despite snow on a couple of days. We all had a wonderful time and hope to return soon as possible. The grounds are lovely too, with a paddock at the end of the fenced garden. The cinema room is lovely and well stockd with a variety of videos and then there is a games room with pool table, again well used. There is a piano in the living room which got a little noisey with the little children, but our 2 eight year olds learned a little tune with their mum and that was lovely. Montgomery town is only a couple of minutes drive. There is a little Spa shop there which has essentials but we found we had to travel to Welshpool for a decent shop and with a family of 16, we did need to shop. Montgomery is a beautiful little town and of course the walk up to the castle was lovely to and quite easy to get to from the little car park.
