This charming traditional cottage is located in the small, peaceful village of Dalton, near Lockerbie. The cottage has spacious accommodation, is graded 4 star by Visit Scotland and has a secluded sun trap garden to the rear. The location is excellent for exploring South West Scotland's fascinating history with many Castles and historic sites locally including Hoddom and Caerlaverock Castles.The latter is managed by Historic Scotland and used for many public events such as battle re-enactments throughout the year.
he local area offers superb opportunities along the Solway coast. Whilst inland there is a great variety of river walks through to the hilltops giving magnificent panoramas to enjoy. Throughout the area there are numerous golf courses, the closest at Hoddam Castle, together with other outdoor activities including fishing, horse riding, water sports and mountain biking all of which are within easy reach.
One of the summer highlights through the summer is 'Riding of the Marches' festivals with events in Annan, Lockerbie, Moffat, Langholm and Dumfries all of which end with cavalry charges by the participants thorough the respective towns - something that should not be missed.

Summary: We stayed at Number 5 for just over two weeks when we were having some work done at home. The cottage was a comfortable village retreat from the disruption going on in our house and Helen was the perfect host. Dalton is a pretty little village with a long history and would be a perfect situation for exploring the region.

Summary: Lovely cosy cottage. Very well equipped. Parking good. Beautiful area. Garden dog secure and very pretty, does have a 3 foot wall without a fence that our stupid dogs kept jumping off, so we had to guard them outside. Overall really nice break, thank you.

Summary: Lovely cottage with parking in a lovely village. Very clean and spacious inside. Great facilities and everything required was provided. Also great location as base to explore the Borders area. Welcome pack was a lovely surprise with fresh eggs and milk in the fridge. Highly recommended.
