Summary: Spent a wonderful couple of days at 40 winks hotel. Room was very comfortable, great location for walking around Durham. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and served hot. Will definitely return. All staff very friendly and welcoming.

Summary: What a gem of a place, ideal location, gorgeous views, super comfortable room and really friendly staff. One of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. It’s so nice to stay somewhere with so much character, if you’re going to Durham, stay here.

Summary: This was our second stay at 40 winks and it was even better! Warn welcome, beautiful decor, delicious breakfast. Host went out of his way to make our visit run smoothly as we were here for a graduation ceremony. We will be back. Didn’t have time to use the new bar so we must return!!

Summary: Such a lovely boutique hotel only 5 mins walk to the riverside. All staff were so friendly, the furnishings are so beautiful and the food is outstanding!

Summary: Great location, so close to town centre, fantastic host, George couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely room overlooking the quiet cobblestone one way street in view of the cathedral. Breakfast has a selection that is cooked to order and is amazing, the full English is a must. Had a wonderful short stay that couldn’t have been better, thanks 40 Winks
