This sleek, stylish home is freshly remodeled by its architect owner/builder. Out of the Blue is a 925 sf, 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom main house with a separate 460 sf 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom guest suite on the lower level (not connected inside). This unique Layout is perfect for couples and friends traveling together, for multi-generational family trips and more. Enjoy distant ocean views over the treetops and sunsets from your modern yet comfortable home-away-from-home.
Perfectly located just outside of the bustling downtown area of Carmel-by-the-Sea but with easy access to Highway One so you will be close to all of the attractions, restaurants, golf courses and shopping experiences that the area has to offer. Just a short drive from destinations like Point Lobos State Reserve, Big Sur, Carmel Valley wine country, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row, numerous golf courses and the list goes on.
Enter through the welcoming fenced courtyard with a trickling water feature and a table with large umbrella and chairs perfect for al fresco dining. The area is enclosed with attractive privacy fencing making it feel and function like another room in the house.
Main Living Space
The open-concept living/kitchen/dining area in the main part of the house is sleek and modern but warm and comfortable at the same time.
The living area has a desk and chair perfect for connecting with work or school while you're away, and a wifi-enabled Smart TV so guests can log into their own streaming accounts (no cable). The decorative fireplace is filled with smooth stones and battery-operated candles for ambience.
The dining table seats 6. It is in front of the large windows facing west, taking full advantage of Ocean and sunset views.
A glass door leads to the upper deck with more seating for outdoor dining.
Kitchens
The streamlined but fully-equipped kitchen awaits your arrival to help you satisfy your culinary fancies. Sleek cabinetry holds dishware and small appliances like a small food processor, immersion blender and waffle maker. The kitchen features immaculate solid counter tops and stainless steel appliances including a compact four-burner gas stove, full-size oven and dishwasher, a compact Bosch refrigerator and a large sink. The downstairs unit has a kitchenette of its own with a stove/oven unit and refrigerator (no dishwasher).
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Upstairs/Main House
Bedroom #1 has a queen bed, a wifi-enabled Smart TV so guests can log into their own streaming accounts (no cable) and a view of the front courtyard garden.
Bedroom #2 has a full/double bed and a peek of the ocean.
Both bedrooms have sleek built-in cabinetry.
The shared bathroom has a tiled shower, Toto toilet with built-in bidet.
Downstairs Guest Suite
Around the back of the house and down some exterior stairs is a separate entrance to the guest suite which has a private deck, a living area with a built-in bench with cushion and decor pillows, two upholstered chairs, a small dining table for two and a kitchenette.
In this suite, Bedroom #3 has a queen bed, TV and the bathroom has a standing shower.
Please note that this suite does not connect to the inside of the upper level which is the main portion of the house. Each level has its own private exterior entrance.
A compact stacked washer and dryer are tucked away in a cabinet inside Bedroom #2. Another set is located in the guest suite.
Street parking in front of the home is available for one-two vehicles and guests must park where directed.

Summary: We really enjoyed this house! For our group it would have been ideal if the in-law suite was more directly connected to the main house (without having to walk around) but we made due. The deck gets great sun much or the day. Noting the mattresses are all quite firms (can be a plus or minus depending on your preferences). The host had great attention to detail!

Summary: Enjoyed the views and the beautiful dining setting. I wish the listing was more apparent that the third bedroom and second bathroom are downstairs and you need to go outside of the main house through the side to be able to reach the downstairs bedroom and bathroom.

Summary: This house has everything possibly needed. Very thoughtfully stocked and supplied, and efficiently laid out with comfortable and tasteful furnishings. Very scenic location above the main part of town, and easy access. Particularly enjoyed the courtyard dining table. Unfortunately we were there during a heat wave, and hardly anything in Carmel has air conditioning, so it was hot in the house. Supplied fans helped. Some traffic noise at times from busy street just below house, not noticeable when doors/windows closed. Overall, highly and unreservedly recommended.
