Positive: The host was very friendly, gracious, and helpful. The view from the property was fantastic. The accommodations were very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. We stayed here our first night in New Zealand after long travels from the east coast of the US. The host made soup which was perfect for us to relax that first night. The stay was a wonderful start to our trip to New Zealand.

Positive: The owner, Brenda, was very friendly and welcomed us into her home. It was very comfortable and she made sure we had everything we needed. We loved the little personal touches of flowers in our room and the choice of teas and coffee. The bed was super comfy. The garden was beautiful with a stunning view of Christchurch and the ocean and we could see Kaikoura in the distance. Breakfast was very good with homemade granola, home grown stewed fruit and homemade jams as well as cooked options. Brenda is a really lovely lady and made us feel very much at home. We also made friends with Frankie her black Labrador.

Negative: There was nothing we didn’t like. It was perfect.

Summary: Super warm welcome and very comfortable.

Positive: Brenda was exceptional. She not only made us breakfast as per the property description but also assisted us in get to and from the property. The property itself is spectacular and the views are amazing also. I could not recommend this place enough.

Positive: The view is amazing. The house is filled with flowers, books and art. It’s so gorgeous! Oh, and there’s a black lab named Frankie! Brenda was the best host you could ever ask for (especially after the yucky farm stay we’d stayed the night before). In fact, when we pulled up here we thought it must be a scam as this place is spectacular! Breakfast was so delicious and I don’t normally eat breakfast.

Positive: We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the property and the host, Brenda, was wonderful! We arrived relatively late and had out choice of two rooms, which were shown to us by Brenda. Both rooms were clean and wonderfully appointed, with cozy blankets and beautiful towels in the bathroom. We loved the cozy nature of the shared spaces and being welcomed into the property with such warmth. The only surprise was the dog, which for those who are not comfortable could be an issue, but we loved the homeliness it added to the property. We were offered many different recommendations for the area of Christchurch, including food and sights, all of which helped us during our stay. Our breakfast was also delightful, many locally-sourced ingredients for jams, fruit on cereals and the eggs were prepared extremely well, all enjoyed with a spectacular view. We had a wonderful time staying with Brenda, and we will certainly stay again when we are in the region.

Negative: The location being on a hill is best accessible with car access, which could be a negating feature for some, however that adds to the charm of the location. If you are not comfortable with dogs and the associated hair, then make sure that you communicate this as it wasn't clear in the description of the property, however does show that it is someone's home being shared.
