Set in rolling rural countryside on the borders of Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, yet only a short drive from the major motorway connections of the M40 (Junctions 10 and 11), The Hayloft and The Stalls (refs NAB & NAC) are adjoining barn conversions which lie on the edge of the Cotswolds. They offer spacious, light and airy holiday accommodation that is still warm, cosy and comfortable with wooden floors and a wood-burning stove. There are numerous established footpaths and bridle paths which criss-cross the area and take guests through some of the most picturesque countryside and landscapes. The nearby village of Aynho is famous for the apricot trees grown on the stone walls of the old houses. The historic market town of Banbury is close by, whilst Deddington (with a monthly farmers’ market), Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh and Shipston-on-Stour give a more traditional view of the Cotswolds and the chance to stroll along the quaint high streets, stopping at one of the many tea shops and country inns for which the area is famous. Less than 30 minutes away lies Blenheim Palace, in the town of Woodstock, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and home of the Blenheim Horse Trials. In the opposite direction, why not sample Sulgrave Manor (ancestral home of the family of George Washington) or Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit, situated next to a forest - or divert to shop at designer boutiques in the highly acclaimed Bicester Village Outlet Centre. A little farther afield, but still within easy driving distance, lie the university city of Oxford, the ancient town of Warwick, Leamington Spa and the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Commonly referred to as Shakespeare’s Stratford, this is the perfect opportunity to visit many historic attractions including the Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and the world famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Aynho is an hour’s journey north to Birmingham (with the National Exhibition Centre) or south to London itself. There are excellent fast trains from Banbury or Bicester, or drive via the M40. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile !

Summary: I booked The Hayloft for a girls weekend away. We wanted something we could stay in for the weekend and weren’t interested in local amenities as such so the fact it’s in the middle of a farm was perfect. The whole house was exceptionally clean and had more equipment than we imagined. It was very comfortable and provided the perfect get away with friends. The only thing to note is that it is adjoined to The Stalls and so expect to hear some noise from your neighbours!

Summary: Lovely place bedrooms and kitchen area great lounge could possibly have been better slightly larger would describe as cosy for 6 adults. Unfortunately dishwasher did not wash pots clean.

Summary: Our host could have made our stay any better! Despite the fact that Helen was not well every effort was made to ensure that we were comfortable and any issue we had they tried their hardest to resolve! We were also very impressed with the copious provisions made for kids including a massive amount of cutlery for little hands. Loved the beautiful high ceilings in the kitchen, however it does mean that the sounds travels easily so if you have little ones that are prone to early rising it’s something to think about.

Summary: Lovely design and layout - plenty of room for 6 of us. Great kitchen communal area. Owners around but not intrusive - good email communication. Quiet location - local pubs a mile away: would recommend The Fox. Great place for a friends get together.
