Oakleaf Hideaway is a recently renovated cottage nestled in the trees on 20 private acres atop of Lookout Mountain. Featuring private walking trails, waterfalls and 2,000 feet of frontage on Straight Creek, the cottage is your perfect getaway to unwind and recharge. Located just 1.5 miles from the Visitor's Center at Desoto State Park, the cottage is close to everything including Mentone, Little River Canyon, and Ft. Payne.
Master Suite:
Enjoy the serenity of the woods and golden sunsets from the comfort of the luxurious King bed featuring 600 thread-count linens. French doors lead to the large back deck with a fire-pit.
The master also features a sitting area with an antique settee from France, a master closet, chest, and a master bath with a full-sized washer and dryer.
Guest Bedroom:
The guest bedroom has two twin beds that can be pushed together for couples. This bright and airy room has beautiful views of the forest and features luxurious linens, drapery and a mural framed with aged local barn wood.
Kitchen:
The well-appointed chef's kitchen features warm butcher block countertops, a large rustic island, new black-stainless appliances with gas stove, and several details built from wood from a nearby 1800's barn. Rough-sawn open shelving from a nearby family farm sets off the beautiful and artistic decor.
Living Room / Dining Room:
The open concept living room exudes coziness and warmth. Hand-scraped oak hardwood floors, wood accent walls, and the limewashed fireplace and wood-burning stove will make even the coldest days delightful. A 40-inch 4k smart television has Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV apps. Just bring your favorite TV provider login and enjoy a movie night. While we think the best days are the days spent outside, we do have fast WiFi and LTE/4G coverage. The living room also features a pull-out sofa bed with a comfortable new memory foam mattress.
The dining room has seating for six (we've squeezed 9 around the table), and we provide china and service for six as well.
The front door is equipped with a digital lock, and we'll provide you a code prior to your arrival.

Summary: David and Lilly have furnished their cabin in the woods with everything you could want. From 4 different coffee making options, to a full kitchen with top notch furnishings including real plates and glasses (not cheap plastic stuff). They even left a personal greeting plus a special treat to enjoy in the evening.The cabin was very comfortable and fairly secluded, if you want to get away, but still easy to get to.They also communicated very well, advising easy checking instructions before we arrived. They reached out on our first morning to make sure our first night went well. They also responded very quickly to a couple of questions that came up during our stay. I wish all VRBO managers were this great to work with.

Summary: If you’re seeking serenity and the comforts of a well-appointed home, look no further. This gorgeous home is situated on 20 private acres, which boasts a waterfall and creek on the property. Outdoor seating abounds on this property, as you will find benches, chairs around a fire ring, a picnic table, porch swing, and even a cozy daybed on the screened in porch. All of which are perfect for resting and taking in nature. The interior of the home is perfection! Antiques, including beautiful sets of china, are tastefully sprinkled throughout the home. Reclaimed wood accents add a special touch to the decor & bring nature into the home. Books, games, a piano, ukulele, & guitar are available, too. Lighting in the home creates a peaceful ambiance any time of day. Housekeeping does a fantastic job ensuring the home is clean and prepared for guests. Bed linens are soft 100% cotton and the mattresses are comfortable. The kitchen is stocked well, having pretty much anything you need. Fresh flowers were placed in various spots in the house & a welcome message was written on the chalkboard door in the kitchen. David & Lilly have created an oasis you will not want to leave!

Summary: Great get away. Home is perfect! Piano/guitar was a surprise for my musically talented hubby. Love the Roman shades, easy to raise and get the full pic of outdoors. The Christmas decor was nice and cozy.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at this woodsy hideaway! Everything was perfect from the excellent directions to the super comfy king bed. The pictures do not even do the place justice. Wonderfully appointed kitchen with everything we needed. We really enjoyed relaxing on the screened in porch listening to the birds and even saw a few deer pass by. Close to great hiking at De Soto and Little River Canyon. Highly recommend!
