Nestling on the edge of the River Manifold and the Manifold Valley, the surrounding Derbyshire and Staffordshire countryside is both spectacular and diverse. There are ample opportunities for walking, cycling and even horse riding with the Manifold Trail accessible straight from the door, and the Tissington Trail just 2 miles down the road in the Peak District village of Hartington. The popular dramatic rocky outcrop known as The Roaches, long loved by both walkers and climbers alike can also be reached in just 15 minutes. The busy market towns of Leek and Ashbourne are both easily reachable within half an hour, as is Buxton with its famous opera house and stunning Georgian architecture. The Heights of Abraham with its unrivalled views and cable car, the ever popular town of Bakewell, the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall, and even Alton Towers Theme Park for those thrill seekers, are all also just 30 minutes away.
