Situated within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, The Heron, formerly the village tea rooms, is located in the hamlet of Ardentinny, near Dunoon. It is sited next to the Argyll Forest which offers numerous forest tracks, marked walks and cycleways, all easily accessible from your doorstep. The cottage is only 25 yards to the shore where you can walk, fish, launch a canoe or just rest on the rocks, relax and enjoy the view. A large variety of wildlife can be spotted from the cottage including bottlenose dolphins, eider ducks, harbour seals and red squirrels. Nearby, the magnificent woodland gardens at Benmore Botanic Gardens are well worth a visit. The town of Dunoon is within easy reach and has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Summary: The pictures do not show how spacious The Heron is and it’s also very comfortable with much better quality settee and chairs than most holiday cottages. Beautiful view across Loch Long and a lovely rear fully enclosed garden at the back. Saw a While Tailed Eagle, the resident red squirrel and a host of birds both on the feeder and on the lovely beach walk. A beautiful home from home. Summary: Absolutely loved our week away at the Heron and hope to return again at some point in the not too distant future. A good friend of mine recommended it and reading the reviews, you can see why people return again. It is a comfortable, spotless and well equipped home from home and the scenery from the cottage is incredible. We all felt totally relaxed and could easily have stayed a further week. On the back of our stay, another good friend has booked the cottage as well. Thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage in such beautiful surroundings. Summary: Amazing cottage, amazing views, amazing walks and wildlife. The cottage has everything you need. Living area is fabulous! Will miss drinking my morning coffee looking at those views. Loved every minute and so did my fur-baby. Would book again in a heart-beat!

Summary: Second stay here, booking again for next year. Love the place so much. I don't want to say too much because it's already usually fully booked when we want to go and I don't want it to get worse lol. 10/10 across the board.

Summary: The Heron is a great cottage views and location, the nearest shop was a garage near Dunoon a few miles away but they had all we needed. Looking out over the Loch in the morning with a brew couldnt beat it.We went for weeks sea fishing but the fishing was poor, price for a week was a little steep but the views in the surrounding area are priceless.

Summary: The location of The Heron couldn't be any better as it's right on the Loch. Shame about the weather but that can't be helped. Our holiday was relaxing. The view from the windows are spectacular. The binoculars and telescope are much appreciated. The dogs loved being in the water every day! The garden is safe for them. All surrounding areas are very dog friendly and we found all the people we met very friendly. Would love to stay there again. 😊🐾👍
