Summary: perfect. Clive the perfect Host! This little cottage, beautifully conserved and off the road with virtually its own private pub. As a base for our travels from Shipslake, to Henley, Oxford and Bray, it couldn't have been better sited. Two short walks are compulsory, one to the iron age fort site (very little evidence left) and the Anglo Saxon church on the other side of the road and two to the river and memorial. Not much further, but with a car and you have the Village of Hambledon (and Pub) and the Lock. We'd do it all again
