Positive: great location, quiet and comfortable - had everything we needed

Negative: the mattresses were a bit on the soft side for my back which likes rather harder ones but most people would love the beds

Positive: wider location excellent. Cottage well equipped and upstairs spacious and airy. Heating good.

Negative: The cottage is set between a road and a dilapidated shed with black sacks of the neighbours builders waste opposite the door.. There is nowhere to sit outside other than one bench and should you use the washing machine there is nowhere to dry clothes. The bathroom definitely smelt of damp - we thought perhaps the heating had been off for a while and the shower did not hold temperature with the result that scalding was a possibility and the shower was therefore dangerous - the regulator might have packed up. The owners sensibly warned about the delays in turn on/turn off, but seem not to be aware that the temperature regulator was not functioning properly. we left a day early as we were not very comfortable.

Summary: lovely area, nice upstairs room with views, but the bedrooms/bathroom disappointing.

Positive: Excellent location for walking, getting into the Lake District and into town. Wonderful scenery and certainly a home from home. Could have done with staying for longer!

Negative: Only problem we found was crockery/cutlery not being completely clean from previous guests, not a problem as we just washed everything up before using. Also the bin in cupboard was very smelly although obvious it had been cleaned previously. Glad we remembered bin bags, if returning would make sure to bring cooking oil.

Summary: Excellent, relaxing stay in Penrith, would definitely stay in this property again, loved it.
