Positive: To experience to live in an old traditional house. The Hoto cooking class and eating it on our own fireplace was great. The lady taking care of us was extremly nice and suggested also great places to go to.

Positive: Amazing building. Incredible condition. Traditionally, I had to make my own bed (futon, sheet, and comforter. Very warm bed. The house was pre-warmed, which was wonderful on a cold night. Despite traditional walls, it was well insulated inside. Definitely the highlight of our trip! Telling ALL our friends. Soooo worth the trip outside of the main path. Met the host in the morning and she was super kind in helping us understand the property's history, local history, and area.

Negative: Exceptionally well set up. Not a single complaint from the 8 of us. (2 seniors, 2 children, 4 adults)

Positive: This was our last night in Japan, and what a very special place to spend it! We felt privileged to be able to stay in a 200 year old traditional Japanese house- and have it all to ourselves. Ayumi met us on our arrival and also wished us farewell early the next morning - she is delightful and very helpful, providing advice about the house and the local supermarkets and restaurants. We walked around the immediate area which is a quiet rural/farming area with a shrine and a temple. We cooked a full meal in the house using the double electric hob. We slept so well due to the peaceful surroundings. We loved this old house which seemed to welcome us inside, and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to step back from the modern world for a few hours and immerse themselves in the simple things in life.
