Curraweela RV Rental | Yirri glamping tent overlooking the Great Dividing Range

1 Bedroom RV Rental in Curraweela, Taralga

We have one Bell Tent and a nestled at the edge of a peninsula which overlooks the Great Dividing Range. Yirri is our 5 metre tent. Wake to the extraordinary spectacle of clouds in the valleys of the seemingly endless blue eucalypt hills. Both accommodations are spacious and are beautifully finished in the raw earthy aesthetic of the surrounding landscape and offer peace and isolation. Generously separated from one another these sites offer a real sense of seclusion.
There is a comfortable enclosed camp kitchen which we have developed for tourists to share whilst retreating from bad weather. There is a living area with a fireplace and a dining area. These seperate areas allow for different groups of tourists to enjoy the camp kitchen at the same time. The camp kitchen offers another possibility for group gatherings with it’s generous deck, bar and outdoor sitting area. There is a BBQ on the deck for cooking if the camp fires become too wet
There are two showers. Both are glass fronted and are perched on the very edge of the hill so you get the feeling that there is very little between you and the mountains! It is truly a spectacular experience. There is a solar heater on top of the showers which allows for hot showers.
There is a toilet block at the back of Tanjenong camp. The two toilets are composting toilets. We have tried at all times, in our creation at Tanjenong Camp, to be environmentally sensitive. We have tried to use local materials as much as possible. All our energy is renewable, all water at the Camp site is rainwater or spring water. We are entirely off the grid.
You will be able to connect with one of the favourite Tanjenong walks, the Abercrombie River walk. This walk takes you through a diverse and pristine Eucalypt landscape to the Abercrombie river. The river walk offers a possibility of spotting a diverse range of wild animals, kangaroos, platypus, echidna, trout, wombat, goannas, goats and deer . The walk itself is roughly an hour and half to two hours long. It is steep in parts so it is important to wear good walking shoes!

Summary: The set up was perfect, they have thought of absolutely everything you need. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The views and stargazing were magical. The town nearby Taralga was great. Incredible wildlife everywhere. We couldn't recommend this place highly enough and are already planning to come back with friends.

Summary: If you're looking for a different place to stay, a different way to stay and something that is not your run-of-the-mill experience, then this is well worth considering. Super quiet location with only the wildlife and lamas for company, the site has fabulous views to remind you that this part of NSW has plenty to offer by way of scenic beauty. The two tents and one dome are nicely apart from each other to allow privacy, the individual tents and the communal kitchen are well stocked with kit and utensils and the pretty basic cooking facilities are perfectly fine for those not adventurous enough to cook on the open fire. Highly recommend trying your hand on the open fire cooking - its challenging, fun and satisfying. We stayed in Yirri, the big tent. Very comfortable bed (massive tick for this cos you need the comfort when its been blowing a storm outside and you need a proper sleep), simple presentation, no fussy nonsense, just practical, usable facilities. Flies were a bit of a pain but there's nothing you do about that. The rest of the wildlife was great with wallabies, birds, loads of butterflies all wandering around the place. The fact there is no phone signal may be a downer for some, but being off grid does slow everything down and, if you cannot bear being without internet access, the local pub has wireless. Don't come here if you are seeking luxury camping; it's comfortable but not luxurious (and doesn't pretend to be). It's a great place, nicely thought through and delivered.

Summary: We had an absolute blast staying in the Yirri tent! The site is absolutely beautiful and very well designed and kept. We were there when it was quite cold but we were quite warm with the bedding that was provided. Even with other campers, it was like being there by yourself because there is so much space. The local walks were pretty and we ventured out to Wombeyan Caves which wasn't too far away. The camp kitchen was great and everything was provided (utensils, pots, pans, Dutch ovens, etc). The toilet facilities were great, not too far from the tent if needing to walk in the night and were very clean and well set up (would barely know they were compostable toilets). We had an amazing weekend! Deb and Rob were great too! I highly recommend and will definitely be back!
