Summary: The cabin was well kept, clean, and near the river as advertised. However, just after arrival around dusk, the electricity went out suddenly. Attempts were made to contact the host by phone ( voice mail box was full so we could not leave a message), text message, and email. We did not hear back from the host until a day or more later, and only by email. VRBO customer support made the exact same attempts and got no response. We were unaware that the grid had been shut down in response to a fire. This must happen more often than not, but we were not prepared, nor did we know where flashlights were. Fortunately the grid went back on in a reasonable timeframe. Disappointed about the host not being available to us. Otherwise, the setting was beautiful and enjoyable. (Could have used shampoo in the Queen room as well as hairdryer.)

Summary: Loved our stay in this home directly over the Smith River. We used to own the house, so it was a very sentimental visit. You you can hear the water run over the short stretch of rapids below the back patio. A very low key area, so pure relaxation. Not much to do in the area, so you have to be into the river and enjoying friends, as we did. Be sure to do your grocery shopping in Crescent City!!

Summary: It was a very nice home with a wonderful deck overlooking the Smith river. The kitchen was well stocked and very convenient, and the bedrooms were great. Our only complaint was the furniture in the living room. It was too modern and just not very comfortable.
