Positive: The exceptional architecture and interior make this property second to none. The rooms are immense with just the right balance of period and modern. The kitchen-diner is an incredible space; we had 11 around the table for Christmas dinner! There's two beautiful, modern bathrooms on the first and second floors plus two additional loos on the ground and mid-first so ample facilities for larger groups. The log-burner in the lounge was a new addition since our last stay and it's amazingly efficient at keeping the enormous room warm and cosy. We'll be back next year for certain.

Positive: The Tower is full of character, with wonderfully large rooms. We were surprised how warm the rooms were, even in January. The location is good for the north end of the Lakes or the Solway Firth. In summer the large garden with its ruins would be a good place to sit out. The Kitchen is very well equipped.

Negative: The Tower is an historic building so be prepared for some dated features. 8 people might struggle with just the 2 bathrooms.

Summary: We had a lovely 4 days in January, enjoying a cosy, characterful property. Had some nice walks.
