Positive: Nice and cozy. Cutest lil basement apartment with its ow3n porch.Close to town. Kathy was the nicest person and the best hostess we have ever had. She checked in on us a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed. If we didn't have it, she did! She was a helpful tour guide and was helpful with restaurant recommendations. She had us a card and cake on our arrival as we were celebrating our anniversary. She also left snacks and beverages for us which was so very nice.

Negative: The shower is very small. It was not accommodating for my 6'5" husband. The shower head was not adjustable. Me at 5'4" did not want to wash my hair with every shower, but I had to as the water from the shower was pretty much aimed at my face. A detachable shower head would be great! The stairs leading down to the basement apartment are narrow and steep. Really could have used 1 more step at the bottom. The walking stones leading from the steps to the porch are small and slippery when wet. We both suffer from neuropathy and the sensations in our feet are not good, so bigger, non slip path stones would be better. We did not want to walk on the mulch but we had to just for our safety.

Positive: The rental was perfect—so comfortable, private, and cozy. The hosts are absolutely wonderful and thought of every detail. The rental is well stocked and spacious. The private deck is just lovely, and is furnished with by chairs as well as a table. This is one of my favorite rentals!

Positive: Amazing with so many amenities! The owner even stocked the rental with food and beverage items which was a huge surprise! Communication ahead of the stay was incredible. Overall the rental was exceptional, clean, quiet, and close to lots of locations to go to in the West Jefferson area. We definitely recommend this location and we look forward to staying there again in the future!

Positive: This was a very clean cozy retreat that was above our expectations. The host had it stocked with things that even I wouldn’t have thought of and went above and beyond making sure we were settled in and all questions were answered. Great location and we are already trying to plan another trip back.

Positive: Wooded environment along a hillside along the New River...very pleasant, enjoyed hearing the sound of the river below while having breakfast on the front porch of the unit. The unit was very well furnished inside and out, with great attention to detail and cleanliness. The owners/hosts were present and very friendly/helpful. Location was several minutes drive into West Jefferson; this was a great alternative to the hotel choices there.

Negative: I was in the area for a major cycling event, so did not have enough time to enjoy thoroughly the other recreational or walking opportunities near the unit including those offered by the New River. The only "area for improvement" would be that the bedroom seemed a bit cramped...but that was a minor issue in the context of an overall excellent stay.

Positive: 10,000 STARS! Perfect location close to downtown. Loved sitting on the porch playing checkers and watching deer and the birds. The owners thought of everything you could possibly need and even things you didn’t think you would need. They definitely go the extra mile to make guests comfortable. It was absolutely exceptional. Your “home” away from home!!
