Positive: Overall the lodge was ok. It had everything we required for a 4 night stay. Bedding was clean and soft. Beds comfortable. Ice in the freezer and a pint of milk in fridge.

Negative: The cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Dirty Dishwasher (so this was not used), dirty plastic cups, dirty decking, dirty outside table, the glass barriers on the decking were filthy with fingerprints and spilt drinks. Cobwebs all over the outside furniture, had not been cleaned in quite some time. Therefore we cleaned it all ourselves. The banister was very dirty with marks, hairs and other items. The newel posts were black where people had held onto them to climb up the stairs, as the banister only went up so far. Also finger prints on the fridge and freezer. I would not recommend this property for older people or young children (we are in our early 60's and the steep stairs were just too much). Due to the glass partitions, we all thought it was possible for people to fall down the stairs when in the living area, and ensured there was always a chair in front of the them. (Perhaps a red rope could be used or a gate to prevent this.) The bathroom on the bottom floor was dusty. Some of the plugs were not fixed on the wall properly. The whole place needs to be repainted, (showing lots of signs of wear and tear) the settee needs to be steam cleaned together with the small rug. The showers need to have doors as the water pours out onto the floor and is causing the door surround to swell. Perhaps a shelf in the shower for toiletries.

Summary: Waterside Lodge 6 - not for us.

Positive: Well equipped, beautiful lodge. Hot tub had been heated up ready for our arrival. We were also contacted to be shown how to use the facilities shortly after we arrived. The little things like having tea/coffee/milk there for us was greatly appreciated.

Positive: The place was nice and clean, spacious, lovely outside seating areas upstairs and downstairs, as we visited on a hot summers week it was lovely being able to sit outside wherever we were gathered. Facilities where good too. Nice bathrooms, good cooking areas. The area was nice too, felt nice and secluded from the world by a nice canal river and the scenery was great too. There was also a big Tesco and nice restaurants nearby which was very nice and only a few mins away by car.

Negative: The only thing that wasn't great was there was a stagnant pool of water close to the house and every now and again a pretty bad smell wafted over the house. But it wasn't that bad and you didn't notice it after a while.

Summary: Great stay, nice, clean, modern, we'll be back for sure.
