Positive: The décor was lovely and the rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The hotel has the potential to be a really nice place to stay.

Negative: The hotel seemed very understaffed, which left the team looking rushed and flustered. Service was inconsistent, food was overpriced (e.g. £9 for four chicken wings). The bill wasn’t itemised so I couldn’t check it. Breakfast service was chaotic, with some staff working hard but others seeming disengaged. Wobbly tables and a lack of attention to detail added to the frustration.

Positive: We stayed in the original Hall, with a huge bedroom and lovely outlook. The gardens surrounding the hall were beautiful.

Negative: There was only one person checking people in at peak time, and no one serving in the bar after.

Positive: The surroundings are really nice, staff are friendly

Negative: The thinness off the walls, the beeping of the lock and the thuds of the doors. The accessible room that we stayed in, had one inside door not your usual 2, so you could hear everything. The shower head was full of limescale so barely any water coming out of it and it would have been too high for some one in a wheelchair to sort. I did descale it so I could use and future stayers.

Positive: Lovely situation, the grounds and the look of the actual Walton Hall. A time gone by.

Negative: We have stayed numerous times at this hotel, and especially like the House/Hall rooms. We requested a particular room in the House and had a reply request approved. When we arrived a little early for the 3pm book in, the gentleman at reception said he would see if the room was ready. I said we are in room 3 in the House. He said no because someone was already there. They had booked some weeks ago. I said I booked 23rd July, some weeks ago. He then tried to say that the approval wasn't valid! He did then put us in room 6, which had fantastic views and was a huge area, although very tired. Trying to get into the house, was another matter....it appeared locked! We rang the bell several times and eventually someone came. He said there was NO door knob and couldn't let us in, so we had to go to the back entrance....I have to say my thoughts were if there is a fire how do we find our way out? The young gentleman had little interest, didn't ask if he could help with the bags..... We didn't have breakfast because of the reviews. We did look at it and for £17.50pp is just too much money for below par produce. When we checked out the gentleman just took our key.... didn't ask if we had had a good stay, nothing. The only bright staff member was a young lady doing room cleaning. She cleaned our bathroom very swiftly and said what she had done and when she went gave a cheery goodbye. We stayed for Christmas 2024 when it was still Mecure Hotels and had a wonderful time. We were hoping to go back this Christmas but sadly we mostly certainly won't be returning. Since Sunday Hotels (OYO group) has taken over it appears to be in a downward spiral, such a shame for a Hotel that has huge potential, beautiful grounds and a spa ( which is under separate management, not connected to OYO.

Negative: Staff couldn’t cope as it had been overbooked so could eat in the resturant , bar food limited and had to fight to ge severed at 850pm, ran out of most things , staff overwhelmed , tables dirty so overall bad experience
