Positive: I'd accidentally got the date of the booking wrong and on arrival the villa was deserted. However the proprietress arrived after a call and very obligingly opened up for me. The villa actually wasn't due to be open until the following week. The place is lovely and well worth booking.

Negative: Nothing. All good.

Positive: the owner, Ana, is amazingly attentive, caring and helpful! she not only served us fresh local bread and cheese ♥️, but invited us to all the activities of the winter solstice festival in town and offered us to harvest any fruit that grows in the property (i’d got a bag of persimmons!).

Negative: the collective kitchen is outside and during winter is not much helpful (but it was totally available for us and was always heated inside). the water heater wasn’t much helpful to wash dishes and even for showering.

Summary: it was amazing and i’ll be back for sure!!

Positive: It is in a very quiet location, with plenty of off street parking. Anna met us and showed us around. Google translate was used a bit but communication was not a problem. There is a large pool, the weather was only warm enough for one swim when we arrived which was a shame. The breakfast room is in a separate building which is in fact a fully equipped kitchen for the use of the guests. Anna leaves the breakfast so that you can take it whenever you want. She arranged the restaurants for us. The first was A Lareira in Mogadouro. The owner cooks the meals barbecue style on a huge open fire. It is both fish and meat, the portions are huge, the quality is great and the price is more than reasonable. The second evening Anna arranged a real treat for us at O Lagar do Nicolau in Azinhoso. It was an Olive mill that had been in the family of the current owner who has restored and renovated the building. He took us on a guided tour before the meal and explained all the machinery that used to be installed in the hall, which he has also been renovated and restored. The food was superb, all cooked on a large open fire outside, and the prices were very reasonable. The wine is from a local vineyard who's family were there celebrating the end of harvest. They came over to us and offered more wine for us to taste. The people are lovely, the experience unique, but be sure to book, because it is very small with not many tables.

Positive: The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with delicious fruit from the garden and tasty local cheeses. The kitchen for the guests was far beyond our hopes. Very well stocked with pans and salt and pepper and milk. Etc. Anna was delightful and suggested a good place to eat and also walks. The salt swimming pool was great. It's a quiet relaxing place to visit.
