Positive: The amenities provided (TV, club room exclusive items, etc.) were top notch. The restaurant, albeit pricey serves good quality food and the 5% discount via the app is always a welcome addition if you care about penny saving. The staff are a friendly bunch, even if one or two of them seem a little groggy or fed up at times. Though, I am the same early in the morning. It's overall a very well presented hotel. It has a good atmosphere to it and the staff are dressed befitting of their roles, which just makes it look that much more professional. Just next door is a carvery and Greene King pub, for those days where spending £45 a meal is a bit too much. While I definitely recommend the food, even I couldn't afford going in the restaurant every single one of the 8 days I stay here at a time. If you're like me, working all over the country and hotels are your home away from home, it's welcoming enough. Though I haven't had many interactions with staff members outside of ordering a couple of pints.
Negative: Not that it's the fault of the hotel, but there are fireworks going off EVERY night from the local (I assume) kids in the park adjacent. -- However, things in my room that were definitely sub-par compared to my previous stays: • Bathroom unclean - nothing major, but the odd hair and scum line was something I noticed on my first day in the room, though I'm not one to complain for the sake of it. Quick whisk with some tissue, right as rain. • Wardrobe door falling off - it's actually damaged. Cracked almost in two at the hinge. It wasn't a major inconvenience, but I felt sorry at times for next door when I came in at 6 A.M. (I was working nights) and having to physically slam the wardrobe door shut, even after lifting it a little • Draughty window - It isn't dropping off, but I can definitely see how as temperatures fall, it'll become a problem. Also, when the wind was strong enough, it whistled slightly. Not off putting for me personally, but all it takes is that one Karen customer. -- While I haven't stayed in a 'standard room' yet, I do wonder what exactly warrants the extra £25 a night for the club room. Yes, you get free gym and pool access (which is £5 a session if purchased separately), and the only difference I can see based on the website is the inclusion of the coffee machine, which I had to clean out a good 5 times before I used it. The rooms definitely need more light. It's light I'm in the Gaol at Kenilworth Castle 😂
Summary: Professional, inviting and (largely) well looked after.
