Positive: Close to monastery. But keep driving, stay elsewhere.
Negative: Restaurant is closed and they didn't inform us, there are also often no other restaurants in town open. We could have stayed somewhere else where there were restaurants. We chose this place because it had a restaurant with a good reputation. We had to walk 30 mins downhill and then back up afterwards to have dinner. Breakfast had tinned fruit and there was only one croissant left to share between us. We had to ask for hot drinks, nothing was offered. Very poor.

Positive: This property sits high in the city of Padula, which can only be reached by some very narrow roads with lots of twists and turns. A small car is best! The rooms are given a "Roman villa" feel with wall decorations emulating the old style of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Breakfast is great. Recommendation: At sunset, go up the spiral staircase to the very top and enjoy the view!
Negative: There is nothing to dislike but, fair warning, if you come late in the day parking will be a challenge! There is a small lot a short walk from the hotel, and parking is free, but once space is gone it will be really tricky to find parking!
Summary: Delightful surprise and a great sunset!
