Positive: The gardens and the view, and of course lovely Luisa, make this a really special place to stay in Castelo de Vide. Great to have use of the kitchen in the apartment and easy parking.

Negative: The dog that barks at you is a little worrying.

Positive: The owner was amazingly nice and breakfast was an absolute feast! More than a simple room, we had a separate cottage including a full kitchen. Easy walk into town where there was a great little brewery.

Negative: Owner only takes cash. We only stayed one night, but for multiple nights that might be more difficult.

Positive: The owner! She was fabulous. Just delightful. She obviously loves what she does. Very helpful and accommodating. She made an amazing breakfast with endless variety, much of it homemade. Ample, easy on site parking. I can't recommend this place more. Castelo de Vide is a wonderful town, too.

Negative: If anything, it's a little far into town. It would have been a nice walk though, if not for the rain. We had to drive into town and it's hard to find parking there. But this has nothing to do with Vila Maria.

Summary: Highly recommended! We will have some nice memories from this place.

Positive: I arrived during a torrential rain storm. I received a warm and helpful welcome. This is not a hotel but a well appointed, cosy home. I very much enjoyed my stay and, should I visit the area again, this would be my first consideration for accommodation. The breakfast table was groaning under the weight of a generous selection of savoury and sweet (often homemade) selections. You would need to travel a great distance and need much luck to find a breakfast comparable with this.
