Positive: Vila Gal was in a quiet location with wonderful views to the limestone mountains. The shower was enclosed, which we enjoyed. We also took advantage of the kitchen and dining area to prepare breakfasts and one evening meal.

Negative: We had to drive down a very rough gravel road to the property. There was no reception desk and we had to ring for someone to come. Our host showed us the room and left without any further discussion or instructions as she couldn’t speak English. The next afternoon however, we saw her again with her son who spoke with us in English and made sure all was well.

Positive: Incredible view. A bit remote, but the off-road is very easy to navigate and not too long (maybe 500 m). The location is very close to the lake (walking distance) and 4 km away from the Bicaz Gorge. You can cook your own food in the common area (kitchen), but there are also a lot of restaurants nearby. We chose the latter. No need for AC - there was none present, anyway - the room was cool enough over night, in august. Also important for us was the free parking space just by the building.

Negative: The amenities are a bit... vintage, but in working order.

Positive: We could not find a reception so wondered around for a few minutes and we saw a person looking at us, we asked them where reception was... She was reception, this was not clear on Booking.com

Negative: We had children and a dog, we messaged the property to tell them but they did not reply and put us on the second floor, with a dog this was not easy as an old property with no elevator. The property is cheap but it still needs some money spending to keep it in good shape, we had 2 rooms and in both the shower heads where off the wall.

Summary: Was the only hotel in the area that would take dogs, good value, little bit off the road.
