Positive: Peaceful, calm and beautiful area of Valamo was a pleasant experience. The room facilities were quite modest and minimalist, with small single beds and a shared toilet, but it felt suitable given the monastery atmosphere. Nice simple breakfast was included

Negative: The room had only thin white curtains, and it was very bright outside even at night during summer, so it was impossible to sleep in the dark. Dark and thick curtains would have been much appreciated

Positive: Remote location,breakfast and nice reception staff

Negative: Dont stay in the economy rooms- they are indeed really really basic and the building smells funny. 60 Eur for just a bed in a room with shared bathroom,where I have to make my own bed is a bit overpriced from my point of view! Paid extra to move into the Hotel rooms,which was really nice so I ended up having a nice stay.

Summary: Not for everyone but worth a try
