Our lovely English house is to the north of London. It is on a new private housing estate in a quiet residential area composed of typically English houses, in the grounds of an old historical building which has now been converted into luxury apartments.
It is 1 minute walk from New Southgate’ rail station, from which, in 20 minutes you are in the heart of London and 5 minutes walk from Arnos grove underground station, which is on the Picadilly line and from here the tube train takes 20 minutes to reach Picadilly. You can also take direct trains to heathrow airport from here. Local buses also stop at the top of the road, (100meters) so it is ideal for visiting the sights, business and shopping trips and then a relaxing show or dinner before returning to peace and quiet, away from the traffic of London.
There are shops, restaurants and all necessities within 5 minutes walk.
From the back of the house, over the small garden, you can see the famous ‘Alexander Palace’.
The house is composed of a BRAND NEW fully equipped kitchen and living/dining area on the ground floor, this leads out through French windows to the small landscaped garden where there are dining chairs and table for al-fresco dining in the summer months. New wooden floor throughout the ground floor.
Also on the ground floor is a small bedroom with en-suite bathroom, with shower unit and marble tiles.
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, one with king size bed and the other with queen size bed, there are fitted cupboards in both bedrooms. The bathroom has a walk in shower, toilet and sink. There is carpeting throughout on the first floor. It is a lovely little "castle", cozy and warm in the winter, sunny and restful in the summer.
Feel at home, living like the locals while you shop in the local shops, Co-op is just around the corner and the Tesco flagstore is 5 minutes away by car, You can also walk there, through the private estate with no traffic.During your stay, don't miss the famous London sights,for example Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, The London Eye, for great views of the city and not only... shopping in Oxford Street, regent Street and of course Harrods in Knightsbridge (especially at Christmas time to see the wonderful Christmas lights). For the kids there are plenty of theme parks too as well as Madam Tussaud’s famous wax museum, your children will not want to miss a visit to the Harry Potter museum!!.
With friendly neighbours and the quite, safe area, it’s the ideal location.

Summary: Very comfortable home with an amazing greenhouse-like kitchen. Yes, there were a few little house-related issues, but nothing concerning or troublesome. There was a lock box that solved any shortage of keys issue. Grocery stores within walking distance. Very close to train. Washer/Dryer combo was very helpful. Hostess highly communicative. Perfect for our stay.

Summary: Apartments owner is very communicative and polite for guests. Silvana replied very quickly on our emails, seems as very hospitable and organized a few alimentary products for us because we arrived on 25th December, but you cannot communicate directly with her upon arrival, because she is living outside the UK and that could lead to problems we had. There was only one house key available for apartments, we need 3 of them, so she remotely managed to provide us only with the second one that belongs to cleaner. Cleaner comes unexpectedly 1 day before our departure and wants to get that key back. Of course, it is not a big issue, when it was only one. Regarding the apartments: at first glance they look good and clean and owner told us that they were renovated in 2017. But if you spend a few days in this house you'll find out that only kitchen and some furniture are really new. All other staff is pretty old and just newly painted and not in good working condition (it's just newly painted old rooms with old furniture mixed with a new ones). Some room doors are not closed fully or it is very very hard to open them. One door even falls down and we have to fix it in order to use it. Blind in upstairs room was not working, toilet seats was not properly mounted and were sliding aside, water from shower in bathroom was always spilling out to the floor and you have to clean that up regularly. Lock in shower room on ground flow was disassembling each time you trying to lock the door. However, the apartments owner thinking that apartments are in "mint" condition and because of that we were charged for "damaging" of some old crappy staff, that was in same poor condition before: it is pretty old and is malfunctioning, partially broken; but it was reported to the owner by cleaning staff as "damaged by us". The whole house was mostly clean when we arrived but there still were some dirty surfaces in refrigerator. So be prepared to struggle with house issues each day and notify about all of them the owner, otherwise you could also be charged for "damaging" of old furniture. And check that toilet seat downstairs and blinds upstairs are well mounted and properly working because we "damaged" them and paid for repair. And have a nice trip!
