It is a kitschy Castle with a turret and lots of Old World charm. It is set on 100 secluded acres including fields, woods, hiking, a waterfall and a 20 acre private lake. We have lots of hummingbirds (in season) on our front porch every morning and evening. There is an aviary with peacocks and free range guineas and ducks.
Our Castle is close to the Route du Vin Trail with wineries that offer food and entertainment. The closest grocery store and restaurants are a 20 minute drive.
There is a full time caretaker on the property to welcome you and answer any questions you may have.
This home has a lot of stairs, so be aware virtually every room has stairs to navigate and some are without railings.

Summary: This property was everything we expected! We loved the whole feel and really enjoyed are weekend stay. Host was extremely responsive and helpful! Use their directions, GPS wasn’t always reliable

Summary: This castle is beautiful! Every room you walk in you say "WOW" ! Our family of 13 had a fantastic time indoors and out! This castle is sooo unique and spacious! I could not think of 1 thing I wish it had. We were happy from morning till night, everyday! We will be back! We absolutely loved it! Thank you Ruth, Mark, Timmy!!!

Summary: We had our small wedding with family and it turned out magical even with the rain the owners were great Timmy the caretaker was amazing and so friendly we all had so much fun with exploring all the neat things to see and do and relaxing which we all needed the host think of everything

Summary: Castle and property are extremely well maintained and setup to have loads of fun. We enjoyed the pool, lake, fishing, birds, pool table, eclectic decor, coffee by the lake, s'mores, and a fancy dinner in the dining hall. We went to swim at a river spot down the road that was great for kids. Ate out one night in Chester Illinois and caught the sunset over the Mississippi. Castle is extremely clean. Would come back in a heartbeat!

Summary: When driving down the lane to the Castle, all we could say was “WOW!” We had an Awesome time at the Castle! Timmy, the Caretaker was great to talk with and was very helpful! Plenty of room for everyone, wished that there were more bathrooms for our large family, but we survived. I would recommend a binder with the history of the “Castle” as well as a list for “checking out”. The lake was great for canoeing and kayaking and of course, fishing! The inside swimming pool and pool table were big hits as well as all the Lego and other toys and games for the grandkids! Highly recommend this getaway!

Summary: We had a great long weekend stay with a few couples of family and friends. The castle’s remote location, unique style and homey feel were perfect. We stayed in our pajamas most of the weekend and just relaxed and enjoyed the retreat and the company. Although we stayed in January and didnt get to explore most of the outdoor amenities, the bonfire area and indoor pool were amazing. Will definitely be back in the warmer months to enjoy the experience in a different season. Owner and care taker communication was spot on and there were no gaps.

Summary: Unique location and experience. Large group gathering for a birthday. Would absolutely recommend checking this place out. A little quirky but the pictures don’t do it justice how neat this place really is.

Summary: Follow the instructions from the host in how to get there! There is no cell service but wifi worked great. Stayed here with 6 friends, we had a really great time. The caretaker gave us a great tour when we arrived and they had everything ready to go, even a pre-built bonfire and grills with charcoal!
