Positive: I can't quite figure out what is going on with San Francisco? Such a beautiful looking city filled with over priced hotels and streets devoid of cleanliness and joy. The hotel is bleak. I checked in late and was put in a room on the first floor. The long corridor resembles something similar to in the film, 'The Shining' and the long, carpeted and grossly patterned floor, led me to my room. Welcomed by a 'daddy long legs' in my bedroom, that reminded me of my grandma's attic, the loud noise from the gang next door pulsating through the cardboard thin walls and stench of weed, wasn't the welcome I anticipated. I was moved to a room on facing the road for one night and enjoyed a lovely, cold and loud traffic sleep. I had about 2 hours sleep. Brilliant. I was then moved to a new luxury room from then next night onwards. I can't blame the receptionist. He was fine. Did all he could to assist me so the rating of the hotel is based on the hotel and facilities itself. It just felt depressing there. Decor is extremely dated outside of the rooms and I can't tell you how the shared bathroom was as I took one look and decided to go downtown each morning to a friend's hotel and use theirs. The toilets were... toilets. Right up there with some of the best portaloos I've used. Gets the job done. I saw a few people stroll to their rooms while I was there and they all looked creepy or bored of life. Felt like the place Red and Brooks lived after they left jail in 'The Shawshank Redemption'. My advice would be to stay here if you are desperate to stay in San Francisco for a week and have absolutely no other options or like me, don't want to step over homeless people outside your hotel entrance downtown each morning. This hotel offered a rest from this thankfully (bonus point for that). I would also advise drinking each evening somewhere nice, so that you just crawl into bed and pass out.
