Positive: A very quiet location, yet very near Brighton and the Uni campus we were visiting. Dedicated parking right in front of the cottage. All as advertised and comfortable with a full kitchen, ensuite double bedroom (bath and shower) and a sitting room with a small dining table. We didn't get to meet the owners are we were mostly out during the day, but they were very reactive in all communications.
Negative: Took a long time for the sitting room to feel warm, even though heating had been put on well before our arrival. Perhaps it hadn't been rented for a while and walls needed warming up - second night was better so probably would not be an issue for a longer stay.
Summary: A super quiet location a few minutes from Brighton Uni campus

Positive: We LOVE this place. It is perfect for what we need when we visit Sussex. This was the 2nd time we have stayed here and will definitely book again next time we are down south. The location is perfect as it is close to family and friends. Great for travelling around Sussex and at the foot of Ditchling Beacon which makes it easy for the south coast and close proximity to the A23/27. The lodge is simple and clean and perfect for couples. I am extremely biased towards the local area as it is where I am from but hands down one of the most scenic places to stay. Can’t wait to visit again. The owner Roy is a gentleman and always happy to assist if any issues arise, not that there were any. Highly recommended!!!

Negative: Laundry was very dirty & floor was wet & a mess. Would have been good to have one folder containing instructions for cook top, air conditioners etc.

Positive: Convenience - close to Hassock Station where we could park free with blue badge and go for days in Brighton. Loads of power sockets
Negative: Feels slightly run down and dated. Little things like the shower being loose at the wall and the control dials not matching the description - off = power for example. No instructions for the hob - we worked out how to heat up 1 hob plate but then couldn't work out how to turn it off so had to switch it off at the main plug. Numerous cobwebs but perhaps the spiders work quickly after a clean through. Not that these things should detract from Tovey Lodge being a great little base (it is small) for a cost concious break in Brighton.
