For those that want to feel like they’re stepping back in time this is your place! Set amongst century old fruit trees and raised garden, this native 600 SF stone building was originally built and used as a retreat center which consisted of dirt floors, open stud framing and no running water. Today it has been transformed into a very rustic, yet cozy retreat with a full kitchen, bath and wood burning fireplace. You’ll find everything you need to make your stay enjoyable.
With 15 acres to enjoy and easy access to the national forest from the property, you can’t go wrong. Stroll through our vineyard, add to our evolving meditation garden, hike up our seasonal creek or relax at one of our many seating areas.
If exploring is more your style, we can share some of the best spots based on your interests. There are endless back country roads, hiking/biking trails, fishing & swimming holes as well as some incredible Indian ruins in the surrounding area.
Evenings are perfect for stargazing and getting cozy around the firepit. Early mornings and dusk offer a great opportunity to catch a glimpse of elk, deer, and other wildlife that graze the property.

Summary: My wife and I had a wonderful stay, the atmosphere and surroundings were charming. It was nice to go back to basics, long talks by the fire, open skies, no television and all the others stressors of life left back down in valley.

Summary: Perfect little getaway location! Not much around in Young, but we brought our own food & were perfectly happy sitting under the trees, feeding the animals, & watching the stars at night! Great wine tasting just down the road. 10/10 recommend if you’re looking for a place to hide from the city! Note: getting to Young requires taking dirt roads. Great drive, but make sure your car is prepared to get dirty!

Summary: This was a great accommodation to stay and explore the surrounding area. We hiked, fished, swam in a spring, and went to Indian ruins. Carrie-Ann has a reasource book for things to do and see in the area, which was very helpful! This is wonderful place to stay!

Summary: The place was perfect, the decor was amazing, every detail attended to and taken care of. Carrie-Anne and Mike were fantastic. Made you feel welcome but not over intrusive. The breakfasts were fit for a king and the cappuccino addictive. The property is perfect, the goats and sheep were so fun. Walking and exploring during the day and cozying up to the fire at night, couldn’t ask for better. I will definitely be back and bring friends and family. Even though I’m tempted to keep this piece of heaven to myself.

Summary: The WHOLE experience was awesome. Carrie-Anne and Mike were the most gracious hosts. The food was incredible. The house we stayed in was beautiful and cozy. The people in the town were very friendly. We had a great time!!!

Summary: It was a surprise to find such a pleasant, well equipped and welcoming rental in the small town of Young. The gracious hosts live in a larger house on the property and are happy to give advice about activities in the area. They also have a vineyard, gardens and various livestock to enjoy. The cottage is furnished with all necessities and comforts. We visited in November, and found the heating quite adequate. We had a very pleasant stay.
