Summary: The staff was so friendly here, the view of the water was an incredible way to wake daily and the proximity to all of what the north shore has to offer is perfect for a family trip.

Summary: Newly remodeled unit was beautiful and had all the amenities I could ask for. Grounds were well maintained and comfortable. Managers were helpful and gracious.

Summary: Great location for hiking the trails and visiting local businesses and restaurants. Beautiful yard overlooking the lake and plenty of outdoor seating! Comfortable bed. We were disappointed by the complexity of using the sauna, which we really wanted to do. I felt the staff could have done more to have it ready for the guests. Staff were basically non-existent.

Summary: Beautiful cozy room. Very clean. Fabulous shower! I've been coming to Thomsonite for 40 years and always love it. The renovations are really nice. Only one suggestion - put a light or lamp near the coffee maker kitchenette area

Summary: The room was roomy and comfortable. It was perfect for resting after a day of hiking. The farmhouse style sink in the bathroom was perfect for rinsing dishes, filling water bottles and washing faces and hands. It is obvious a lot of thought was given to the design of the room. Our only interaction with staff was when they showed us a bear about 100 feet from our cabin as we walked back from the beach. On our next visit we will look at taking advantage of the kayaking opportunities offered at Bluefin for guests. There were plenty of supplies, towels, toilet paper, shampoo, etc. for the time we were there. It is close to some great hiking like Pincushion Mountain and Cascade Falls. We enjoyed going into Grand Marais, which is close, for dinner as is the Cascade Lodge. We will definitely look at staying here again.

Summary: We got emails from the property in the days leading up to our stay and were unable to open them, so we were thankful they still had our room when we got there. We asked for a room with a bed and sofa bed - the sofa bed was very comfortable, but they didn't leave appropriate bed clothes for it so we had to improvise a bit. Lovely room. Great kitchen. Great location.

Summary: Staying at this hotel in the winter (off season) was not ideal. Too much snow, parking challenging, and hotel office closed. Room was fine, but no view of the lake. My room key didn’t work on my last day, so staff had to re-issue a new key. For winter, I recommend staying 7 miles north in town..Grand Marie…where there are more guests, better overall parking, access to businesses and customer service.
