Positive: Beautiful location, comfortable mini-apartment with bedroom, bathroom and upstairs sitting room. The Windmill served exceptional food (the pie was to die for!) and the staff were warm and friendly. We'd come to visit the Emmerdale experience and it was about 20mins drive which was brilliant for us. A short hop from Leeds, Harrogate and York,

Positive: The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The full english breakfast was excellent, however the continental wasn't quite as expected. Maybe a croissant or danish with the lovely coffee would have made it more 'continental'. Choice of cereal was basic but nice to have fresh berries to add. They didn't have any milk alternative unfortunately as they had run out. So maybe it could have an option on the breakfast request form. In the room there was a good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits.

Negative: The plumbing in the room needed attention, the taps made a terrible noise and the shower wasn't that strong. There was a hole in the duvet cover so maybe it was time for some new bedding. There could have been better lighting in the bedroom as the window is quite small. Nowhere to do make-up and not many surfaces. The room was a bit dusty I get the feeling it hadn't been occupied for a while. Quite pricy for the facilities.

Summary: It is a lovely pub in a picturesque location. I worked for us as it was near our family event.

Positive: Exceptionally clean. Very nice welcome tray. Room spacious and very comfortable bed.

Negative: Staff seemed busy, not overly welcoming. Waited ages on arrival for someone to check us in. At breakfast time the front door was locked. Continental breakfast was very limited. No pastries, ham or cheese.

Summary: Potentially very good but let down by poor service.
