Positive: Incredible stay! We loved the remote mountain location surrounded by nature - and the Trogon has been thoughtfully designed to enjoy and integrate perfectly with the surroundings. The team have a warm, but laid back style which made us feel very at home - and they provided a very thoughtful and tailored experience. We learnt so much about the flora, fauna and history of the area while enjoying time to unplug and relax in the evenings. The food was also expertly cooked - with most of the ingredients sourced from the organic garden. A wonderful and memorable stay - highly recommend!

Positive: The place is beautiful and peaceful. We could relax and enjoy the scenery while the kids roamed free (isolated, no cars around, very little to worry about and we couldn’t the boys play - 3 and 5 year old) Dhanu and Hari were amazing hosts. Dhanu is a splendid cook, and food was simply delicious and tailored to both us and our two young kids. And both were always available to take us on adventures, and help us spot the local wildlife (even had a little night tour after diner to spot some nocturnal wild life with the kids) I could have easily stayed a lot longer! Accomodation itself is great value for money.
Negative: The food and excursions were a little bit more expensive thank we originally thought or expected (since the accomodation itself is actually really good value for money) but they were great. Depending on your budget just make sure to ask for the cost before heading out just so you don’t get a surprise :)
Summary: Amazing place and people, would recommend in a heartbeat!

Its location close to the Knuckles Forest area makes it a great choice for anyone looking for a quiet nature getaway. 🍽️ Food: The food was good. However, I definitely recommend discussing your food preferences and requirements with the hotel team in advance. They are very helpful and will do their best to arrange what you need. 🛏️ Rooms: The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I really liked how the room design matches the hotel's overall concept and the surrounding natural environment. 📱 Mobile Signal & Internet: Mobile signal is quite poor in this area, mainly because the hotel is very close to the Knuckles Forest region. Positive: Staying at the Trogon was a truly magical experience in the middle of the cloud forrest. Views of camp are spectacular, as is the carefully maintained garden. Walking between the cabin and the 'main house' was such a joy because of all the little wildlife everywhere, the name-signs on trees and plants and just the general atmosphere of the property. If I could have stayed longer, I would've! The cabin is beautifully designed, with a comfy bed and great bathroom. It's in a cloud forrest, so it's fairly damp, also inside the cabin, and thus it can be cold at night! Falling asleep to the sound of all types of frogs makes it all worth it though. The host, Hari, is a great guide. I would recommend doing at least one walking tour with him, because you will learn so much about local flora and fauna.
Negative: A hot water bottle for the nights would've been a welcome addition! Food is relatively expensive, and since the property is remote, expect to eat most meals at camp.

Positive: Staying here felt like being in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nature. It was quiet and peaceful, with a lovely outdoor area on the property to sit and admire the view over the mountains. The room was full of rustic charm and the outlook from the bathroom was so green and pretty. The staff were friendly and the host speaks perfect English. Wifi was limited to the dining area but worked well. You can go for a self-guided walk around the trails in the tea plantation nearby, or you can arrange a guided hiking tour to waterfalls etc (allow at least 4-5hours depending on which hike you want to do).
Negative: Just note that you can't drive a car all the way to the property, you need to leave it in a field at the bottom of the hill and they provide a lift in a 4wd ute to get up the hill (takes about 5-10mins). There are no other restaurants or food options around that I could see. The lunch menu had around 3 or 4 options that were 15USD each. Dinner was a three course meal for 20USD per serve, with around 4 options for the main. It was tasty, but by far the most expensive meal we had on our trip.

Positive: Exceptional location, a hidden gem. Beautiful outlook and tropical garden. Fully immersed in nature. Thoughtful touches in the accommodation and eclectic artifacts to catch the eye. Harry was a superb host and guide with detailed knowledge about local flora and fauna that most visitors would never have the privilege of seeing or experiencing. And Danuka, serving up delicious and thoughtful meals all fresh, using local ingredients, wild and home grown herbs and vegetables, prepared from scratch. Both went the extra mile to ensure our stay was special.
Negative: Could feel damp and dark if the weather is bad.

Positive: Very secluded and beautiful spot! Pitch black nights, great hikes, amazing food (one of the guys was a Michelin star chef!), movie evenings by the fire. Rustic and very much in nature - best suited for the more adventurous traveller!
