Positive: We had a wonderful stay at The Star in Lydd. The house is full of charm and character, with plenty of space, making it perfect for a large family gathering. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed — lots of crockery, cutlery, and glasses — and the welcome basket was a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch. The location is fantastic. Lydd is a peaceful and historic village, ideally situated for exploring Dungeness, Camber Sands, Rye, and the stunning Romney Marsh. Having private parking at the back of the house was also a real bonus. One of the highlights was the converted music room, which made for a very comfortable and quiet bedroom. Everyone found their space to relax and enjoy the house. Communication with our host, Mary, was excellent. She was incredibly helpful, kind, and responsive throughout, and even helped arrange a pre-visit for a family member, which we truly appreciated. A beautiful house in a lovely location — we made great memories here and would happily return!

Positive: Truly an incredibly stay. We couldn't have asked for a lovelier place in terms of having loads of space, huge number of bathrooms, spacious kitchen to cook with everything you need along with a delightful garden and table outside.

Positive: We loved the old and quirky nature of the building. The conversion has been done sympathetically and is was great to have so many bathrooms when travelling as a larger group.

Negative: It was chilly. The heating kept being turned down/off at night and during the day. When we arrived it was just 12* and overnight it dropped back down to 13*. We went out Saturday and when we got back it had dropped back down again to just 13*. Without the open fire we would never have been able to get warm. The timer lights in the bathroom are great but set so short on time it was impossible to pee without having to wave your arms about.

Summary: Lovely building but cold.

Positive: This property was perfect for our family get together to celebrate my husbands’ 65th birthday. The property is so well equipped, we’ve never experienced anything quite like it! You name it this property has it! Beds were very comfy, and an en-suite shower with every room made this stay even more perfect. So homely and plenty of space for everyone. We all loved it.

Summary: We would definitely stay here again for a family get together.

Positive: The house was just perfect. Full of character. Very comfortable. Enough space to accommodate twelve people easily. Everything you could possible need was provided. Outdoor space was lovely. Communication with the host was great. A fabulous place to be with family/friends. Would highly recommend.

Negative: Steps into the garden. Maybe a little difficult if you have mobility problems.
