Positive: The hotel has recently come under new ownership and they are absolutely brilliant, friendly, accommodating and they really go the extra mile to ensure you have a great stay.

Negative: The hotel is over 400 years old which I loved so the new owners have their work cut out for them, but I love their vision and can't wait to see their progress on the place. There isn't anything I didn't like, just looking forward to seeing how they inject new life into the place.

Positive: I love the character of this old hotel - especially the sloping stairs. Would love to see it restored to its old glory. The staff was helpful, especially the manager, Mario. Bathrooms were clean, as were towels and bedlinens, and housekeeping was helpful in providing an extra pillow and teabags.

Negative: Beautiful old hotel, but everything could use revamping. The lobby leaked. Wifi was spotty, as was the TV reception. The beds, chairs and carpets are tired. I stayed multiple nights in 3 separate rooms. My last room needed a new door lock and the windows onto the square were rotted and wouldn't close. Definitely a fair bit of toking going on, but my rooms smelled fresh.

Summary: Good location on the square. Helpful staff. An affordable place to lay your head.
