Positive: The property was in a great location, right next to the river for keen walkers & kayakers etc & Slane town was just up the road (approx 10min walk), so amenities were available if needed & Slane castle was about 5 minutes in a car or 20minutes walk.

Negative: The road to the house, lead to the farm & there were a lot of vehicles passing regularly & some at a speed, as its a one vehicle track. The house, although an ideal size for what we needed, it was tired. There was a burnt plug socket in the snug/dining room, there was or had been a leak under the kitchen sink, so a strong damp smell. There has also been or was a leak on the main tank in the airing cupboard, as there was water staining noted to the floor. The grass outside hadnt been cut, so we couldnt sit outside if we wanted too. In the kitchen, the units had seen better days with hinges broken, water ingress noted & even though the house was deemed suitable for 14people, there were not enough cutlery to accommodate such. We also had an issue with hot water, as it hadnt been left on, so one tank full & we had to wait hours for more (cold showers were had) and we also couldnt get the heating to work & there was not enough wood for the fire/log burner. The house is in a great location, but could do with some TLC.

Summary: Excellent Location, but house could do with some TLC in areas.

Positive: Beds are comfy and showers are hot and powerful

Negative: Needs a little TLC paint freshen up, garden cleaning and could also do with a new kitchen table its very sticky and more comfortable seating.

Positive: The house was spacious, clean and beautifuly decorated, the keepers were very helpful with a couple of issues and we had everything we needed on site. Groceries shop was a short walk away and really lovely local pub nearby. They also were able to accommodate a slightly earlier checking which was helpful after a very early flight! It was lovely to stay in such a lovely location with friends and I look forward to coming back and would recommend the place for any group looking to stay in the area

Negative: The hot water struggled to accommodate 9 of us with maybe 2 a day ending up having cold showers but this only appeared to happen in the morning not the evenings. No fault with the accommodation but it could be tough to organise transport for the area, make sure to research local cab numbers and pre book if possible- uber and free now were not very helpful 🙈

Positive: Ideal for a large family or group. Good location and would happily book it again. Lots of toys to keep the kids occupied and cards for the adults.

Negative: The floor was saturated on arrival. Floor had to be mopped and dried to make it safe as it was dangerously slippy.
