Negative: Problem with a downstairs bedroom which had serious black mould and smelled of damp. Room totally unusable. Turns out there was a leak but the property could not have been thoroughly checked prior to our arrival. Also no heating or hot water on arrival. Worst problem has been attempting to deal with Booking.com (who reservation made under) and Sykes cottages (a partner company) to sort out some compensation for the person who was unable to use the room they had been allocated. 3 months so far of waiting and constant calling both organisations, and we are no further in receiving any compensation. Both sides say they have emailed each other, neither taking responsibility. Extremely frustrating process!

Positive: River House in Ramelton is right on the main street and the river. It is within walking distance of good food and interesting sites within the town. The home is furnished with exquisite antiques and artwork. Having the chance to stay in a Georgian home like this was a rare treat indeed. Would definitely recommend.
